Watch the Original 1976 ‘Star Wars’ Teaser Trailer

This is the story of a boy, a girl and a universe. Featuring the world’s first look at Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Darth Vader, and other classic characters.

Disney and Lucasfilm are toying with your emotions. There is no doubt about that. Yesterday, it leaked that the first Star Wars: Episode VII teaser trailer was about to debut, featuring new footage of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and serving as a casting announcement. It hasn't been revealed yet, but Lucasfilm did release a trailer for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In fact, its the very first teaser trailer, and footage, ever released in the history of the franchise, arriving in 1976 with some laughable narration, knowing what we know now of this sprawling saga. The trailer was released last night on the official Star Wars Youtube channel. Watch as the world is first introduced to Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca, C3PO and R2D2, Obi Wan Kenobi, The Stormtroopers and Darth Vader, in anticipation of the Star Wars: Episode VII teaser that could very will explode onto the Internet while you're in the middle of watching this bit of nostalgia. Feel the love all over again!

About this first trailer, it's interesting to note that there is no iconic John Williams score. We don't hear James Earl Jones as Darth Vader. And there is no "In a galaxy far, far away." Instead, we get: "Somewhere in space, this may all be happening right now." And the tagline: "the story of a boy, a girl and a universe." Could the new movie be curbing from this footage in its initial sell to the public? We'll have to wait and see.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes to theaters December 18th, 2015 and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.
