Walt Disney Pictures to Make 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day'

Steve Carell will star and Lisa Cholodenko will direct this adaptation of Judith Viorst's children's novel.

After being put into turnaround by 20th Century Fox last month, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was picked up and will be produced by Walt Disney Pictures.

Steve Carell is still attached to star in this adaptation of Judith Viorst's children's novel. Lisa Cholodenko will direct from a script she co-wrote with Rob Lieber.

The story follows a young boy who wakes up to find gun in his hair, and from there, events begin to slowly unravel that bring about one of the worst days in the history of the world. Steve Carell is set to play the boy's dad.

While Disney has come to the film's rescue, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day does not have a set production start date at this time.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day comes to theaters October 10th, 2014 and stars Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Bella Thorne, Jennifer Coolidge, Burn Gorman, Dylan Minnette, Megan Mullally, Kerris Dorsey. The film is directed by Miguel Arteta.
