Amazing Movie! Just what you would expect from Burton/Depp/Bonham-Carter. I loved this movie as I love most of Tim burton's movies. The dark (duhh.. it's burton) gothic settings made together with Depp's version of Todd made this movie so great. And to top it off the can all carry a tune so that made it wonderful and the fact that Sondheim was in on the whole thing giving the okay is what made it wonderful. Sondheim was in on the whole project and Burton woulkdn't have cast someone who wasn't great for the part.

i m afraid this a be a major flop. Jhonny is more stiffy than ever, and then he have to sing,i am afraid he just aint gonna make it. As for Burton, im afraid he cant get that idea, of what he thinks expressionism is, outta his head, that all is going to end, as somethig that u might @most Call european fantasy movie.

Sondheim fan here and to be honest, I'm kinda wary of this film version of "Sweeney Todd". Will Burton & Co. cut most of the music/lyrics and give us an un-musical, watered down "Swenney Todd" along the lines of "Dreamgirls"? Will Depp's lack of vocal verissimitude as evidenced in the trailer be on par with Madonna's massacre of "Evita"? Sure, he's a fine actor and Burton makes it all LOOK pretty but what did Shakespeare say; "The PLAY'S The thing!". What makes "Sweeney Todd" great is Sondheim's score. I hope Burton has the "guts" to give us an unabashed MUSICAL and truly change the art form. I have no doubt the movie will look fantastic but that's not enough. And by the way, does it piss anyody else off the the music at the top of the trailer is obviously NOT Sondheim?

Ah thats a first , All of the films that had songs by tim burton were made by elfman. And I disegree Elfman in my opinion is a better composer stephen Sondheim

Hey, Rock, Danny Elfman is not involved with this project. The music for this film will be provided by the prestigious Stephen Sondheim who is well beyond the talent of Elfman.

Sweeney Todd
Trailer

The story of "Sweeney Todd" is of a wrongfully imprisoned barber in Victorian England who sets out to seek revenge on the judge who imprisoned him. The plot is foreshadowed in the first lines of the opening number: "Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd./His skin was pale and his eye was odd./He shaved the faces of gentlemen/Who never thereafter were heard of again."
