It was a little too dark for me. The terror was ok, the lighting too dark.

i find it kinda sad the heath's last performance--magnificent as it may be, is of the joker. i know he was quoted as having fun doing it but i would rather have his last completed performance have been something more...human. that said, comic book movie hater that i am, i will be in line to see the dark knight--for bale as well as ledger. and, of course to see heath ledger's interpretation of the joker. nicholson prolly better move over!

I think they need to really work on the next script closely, ultimately they have to put a new Enemy into the mix while they work on a story line on how the Joker comes back.

In the Nolan Batman world I guess the most obvious choice would be that another character dons the Joker make-up and imitates him as a 'Copycat' - I agree that putting another actor in as a replacement just cannot work and will go against the 3rd movie.

But I think the the 3rd movie is gonna be about bringing Harvey Dent back from Two Face - can he come back? And that surely will throw the gates open for Scarecrow to come back in a larger role or most probably the new Villain: Ian Holm as the Mad Hatter anyone?

Dark Knight looks amazing.....but its too bad about this preview though....you gotta love the addition of the back of some dudes head in the shot!

I've been thinking about another possible scenerio. what if the joker suddently dissapears from the plot...(depending on the resolution of TDK of course)then, he might come back as REDHOOD. he would have a total different attitude and appereance. another idea is let the joker aside(whatever CNolan wants to do) and focus on other villains that have been forgotten or poorly used from the whole batman films. there was a particular character, that is really attached to the excessive control of time (dont ask me its name please!). on the other hand, there is clayface, the riddler, killercroc, Mr Freeze!!. this is my humble opinion!

I was thinking and it would be really awkward to be an actor following in Heath's footsteps in the same Bat-series. Heath died for this character and he's already made it an icon without the movie being released. Getting a dif. actor would be like saying none of it mattered and the actor who had to relplace him would prolly feel uncomfortable.

depp is a good actor dont get me wrong but i dont think hes the right guy to replace heath.

they can't leave the joker out of da 3rd. have u seen depp play?? he was great as willie wonka, jack sparrow, in the secret window he was cool, and i loved him in sweeney todd, and sleepy hollow.
but i say we completely replace the joker or just kill him off in the second one. like they said that two face might kill him in the end.

I dont think Johnny Depp should play the joker if the character is in the 3rd one. Personaly i'm not a fan of changing an actor with the character, like all the other batmans, idk how you could go from Keaton to kilmer to george i think that was dumb they should stick with one main person and that goes with the bad guys. Its a shame heath died because he would've been great for the 3rd. I think they should throw a twist to either kill off the joker or make his character avoid the future movies untill the perfect replacement comes along. Depp does not seem to dark to play the role and like AndrewRyan said carrey already did a role and it would be weird seeing him as the riddler(which i didn't like the movie i thought it was to gay) and the joker. What i'm trying to say is leave the role alone to heath cuz you dont want to mess up a good franchise

Jim carrey already did the riddler. If he hadn't done that, then i'd say maybe, but he can't be two villains in two dif. bat series.

i agree with Joker2010. however it would be a bit cool to c johnny depp as the joker. he will be freakin crazy. but not as good as heath. he was born for this role and died for this role. now don't get mad but this is what i think. have you guys seen brad pitt in 12 monkeys. he was freaky. reminded me of Dennis hopper and Marlon Brando combined with jack Nicholson and of course brad Pitt. new should have a guy like that.

All awesome actors. All inspired me in different ways.... and yeah Carey was great in 23. But here's a fresh idea for ya.... How bout' none of the above. I think Nolan should pick some new, fresh talent this way the role of the Joker feels more authentic. As fans we won't associate the new actor playing the Joker with previous roles. Nor would hollywood rock the boat if they happened to choose one famous actor over another. As long as the person stepping in to play Heath's joker looks, moves, acts, sounds, and laughs like Heath you're golden... plus someone around Heath's age would be nicer than say a 50 y.o. Daniel-Day. And so far as a an avid Batman/Joker fan I can imagine only one actor who possesses all those qualities..... anyone care to take a guess as to whom I'm talking about?

I can't think of anyone who could replace Heath in this. Whoever they pick (if they do) I hope it's someone decent. I thought Christian Slater had a good voice for it. And the look. But he'd look more like the old joker (Nicholson). And I don't think he'd pull it off (acting wise) :( It's an idea though.

i really hope i ont get shot for this one...but when i was watching the number 23 the other day, the part where Jim Carey kills his girlfriend and walks out of the hotel when he is outside walking in the darkness he freakishly had a very simular look to Ledgers Joker. I would be worried about him taking the role tho because he would try to make it comedic. but he looked the part there

Heath Ledger did a great job performing the joker. It's a shame he just passed away. Nevertheless, if C.Nolan considers another actor for playing the joker I can easily see Hugo Weaving on it. Have you ever seen Alex Rose's Joker? just compare them!. Perfect match!. both are australians(Ledger-Weaving). both are well-known actors!. Weaving as done great roles as a villain( Agent Smith, V ). on the other hand, there is Johnny Deep. he would be a terrific one as well!. every single character he has selected is as complex and dark as the Joker. He wouldn't have any issue performing it.

I wonder if they changed the ending of The Dark Knight because of Heath Ledger passing... I think we need to say goodbye to the Joker for a while unless they come up with a clever way to bring him back later. Heath fucking nailed this role from what I have seen and I cannot imagine anyone else stepping in as the Joker at least for now.

Its going to be a tough choice who would or could replace Heath, out of respect they might not even have the joker in the next film.
But you can't have batman with out the joker.

If they bring the Joker back for the 3rd film i really hope Nolan will push for Johnny Depp to play the Joker. He is the best choice to replace Heath and thats gonna very hard to do.
