Sony has announced it pushed back Screen Gems' release date of the Kate Beckinsale-starring Underworld 4 from September 23, 2011 to January 20, 2012, currently having that date to itself. The 3D sequel also stars Michael Sheen.

Screenwriter John Hlavin said about Underworld 4:

"It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don't want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements."

Sony has also set a March 25, 2011 release for Roland Emmerich's political thriller Anonymous, starring Vanessa Redgrave, David Thewlis and Rhys Ifans. The thriller centers on who actually wrote the plays of William Shakespeare.

Underworld Awakening was released January 20th, 2012 and stars Michael Sheen, Kate Beckinsale, Bill Nighy, Michael Ealy, India Eisley, Theo James. The film is directed by Måns Mårlind, Björn Stein.

Anonymous was released October 28th, 2011 and stars Rhys Ifans, Vanessa Redgrave, Sebastian Armesto, Rafe Spall, David Thewlis, Edward Hogg, Xavier Samuel, Sam Reid. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich.

I agree. A Thriller about who REALLY wrote Shakespeare's plays? Hmm . . . sounds like a playwright version of The Da Vinci Code! :P
