Great film. I can see why everyone is praising Captain America in some way. Cap manages to deliver a little bit of everything and does it with style and integrity. This extremely talented cast fit each character perfectly, both large and especially the smaller roles. The story itself is told in a masterful, crisp manner. The dialogue is witty and the humor works its way seamlessly in to the natural order of the story. The film certainly is smart but it's fun first and foremost. Comic book style slugfests are certainly part of the fun but are inserted as a vehicle for the story and not just to see CGI things explode. Things aren't blown up just for the sake of seeing them go boom. What makes Captain America as good as any Marvel film is the fact that it's a fine film for kids but it's even greater if you're an intelligent adult. How many movies can pull that off? Like Thor and the Iron Man films, this is movie making of the most entertaining order and it easily deserves all the praise it has generated from both fans and critics alike. It makes anyone long for that Avengers film to be sure.
Can't wait for Avengers! Who would've thought years ago that ALL Marvel based films would rule the summer?!? Without question, Thor, X-Men First Class and now Captain America were/are the best movies of the summer. Nothing else has come close. If this summer movie season where the Olympics, I'd say Cap took the gold. First Class grabbed the silver and Thor finished fractions out of first with the bronze. Pirates, Hangover 2, Super 8 and Transformers finished out of the money and Green Lantern came up lame and didn't even finish the race. It's been a great summer. Everyone might as well label it correctly... a MARVELous summer!

Fact is that First Class is one of the top five adaptation films ever made however you cut it or whatever the other four films on your personal list.
Green Lantern (4/10)

As bad as most are saying. I think this film was created for the 6-12 age group and that's the problem with the WB. They toned down the characterization but then they forgot to spend the budget to make it fun. They have a script dumb enough for a 6 year old but very little fun to compensate.
First Class is not doing bad at the box office but it's not tearing it up either. Word of mouth has been awesome, however.

It looks like we can scrtach Green Lantern off the list. Critics are savaging that mess in a big way.

Great pace and action that's gritty and dark but complex and very enjoyable. Star power, sex appeal, a powerful and emotional script, and a great plot make this one memorable flick.

I guarantee that TDKR will be another Spider-Man 3. Let me clarify by saying I'm not one of those melodramatic fans that think SM3 is an abomination. It's just that when you compare it to SM2, it falls way short. TDKR has the same task ahead of it. It has to follow a legendary second installment and expectations are through the roof. The makers of the film will try the impossible and try to top the last film. They'll throw too much in to the script and the story will become overloaded. Plus, they have no epic Heath Ledger performance to fall back on. Despite Nolan's track record, all the cards point to a disappointment for TDKR even though it won't be a bad film... just like SM3.

As for Amazing Spider-Man, that's facing its own set of problems. They've pissed off or alienated a large chunk of their core fan base by even going forward with this premature reboot. It had better be an instant classic or else fans and enemies alike will rip it unmercifully.

Avengers is the horse to bet on next year, period.
Well, Marvel is officially a big two for two! X-Men First Class is exceptional in every way. No one can credibly rank either Thor or First Class less than 9/10! The bar has been set very high for Captain America.
Avengers is going to crap on both of them.

Nuff said.
I can't believe anyone is looking forward to Green Lantern at all. That looks like a cheesy video game movie. When you can't even hide it in the trailer, you have problems. People are going to ignore GL in droves.

Saw THOR and it's as good as most are saying. It's fun, well written, visually stunning, well directed, and struck just the right tone for the material. Even in an era when an explosion of comic-book superheroes is hitting the silver screen, THOR stands alone. What great way to start off what should be an epic summer.

9.5/10
Thor (9/10) Thor is smart, well written, visually stunning, well directed, and struck just the right tone for the material.

Sons of Katie Elder (9/10) Forgot how good this John Wayne classis was.

Well, Thor is finally here and it seems like most of the critics are giving it a positive review. Last I checked, 47 out of 50 critics positive. Those who have seen it over on IMDB are raving about it as well. Why Australians and critics get to see it two weeks ahead of everyone else is a mystery but I can't wait to check it out. Should start summer off with a bang.
Honestly, Cap/Thor/First Class will be the best three films of the ENTIRE summer. I think the finish will be just as close as an Olympic event. I'd say a close Gold = Cap and Silver = First Class with Thor = Bronze.
"Mel Gibson vs Gary Busey in Letheal Weapon"

The strange thing is that I was such a fanboy back then that when I first saw it I thought to myself, "THAT is how a Wolverine VS Sabretooth fight would look on the big screen." Thank God this era of comic book adaptations hit. God Bless the 21st century!
Evans is going to be perfect! Just like I know Whedon is the perfect choice to direct Avengers. I'd give anything to see those pictures that are coming back from the costume test.
