I share your points with the finale. Now I haven't read the book, but I too think that an ending like that doesn't work on film, and it drew me away from what I was feeling before. Having said that, I totally loved the rest of the film and I think I couldn't ask for better way to send off the series.

I just hate that people still refers to this movies and books as "kids' stuff", I mean if a kid were just to watch the last three they'd be either bored or horrified....

if this does indeed happen (I hate commenting on rumors, I rather make fun of them) I hope that instead of trying to tie in with Chris Nolan masterpieces, it creates a universe and identity of its own. I don't wanna see Nolan's version made into a lame (yeah, whoever tries to follow Nolan on TV is lame) TV series. They can sure take some points off it, like Batman The Animated Series took from Burton's films (and look how great that turned out on its own right)
