Transformers was a pitiful excuse of a movie. The best excuses I've heard the fanboys come up with are "It's a giant robot movie what do you expect" or "It's Transformers, it's supposed to be dumb." All I've to say to that is bullsh*t. Anytime you're making a live action crossover you do things a bit differently. Transformers was a mess. And Judging by what Transformers I was, I'm going to guess that Transformers II will be another giant mess, consisting of more plot holes than a enormous block of swiss cheese.
