The only thing wrong with this was that new characters lacked a sense of personality, a problem that would have been less obvious with michael involved. Like the elder was a mirror image of viktor for some reason. Then there was the hybrid daughter's lack of backstory - an emphasis on being a prisoner/ being feared would have been good, and the story generally didn't have anywhere to go, but if it sets up a true finale with selene and michael returning, then this can be viewed as a triumph. Good movie, just try and enjoy it.

Imax 2d is the best format, without a doubt. fills your vision with brilliant hd, the dark knight was unbelievably awesome.

@Frangel I think the series made alot of progress, I thought each film surpassed the last, and I thought Eclipse was handled very well. But I have to say that the hard work established in Eclipse was regressed in breaking dawn, so much so that character development was ignored, and plot-points effortless. Shame, because it could have developed into a more generally respectable franchise with these last 2 movies, but so far Bill Condon is having the underwhelming 'drama-director' - 'sci-fi movie' experience.

They had a winning formula for Thor, if they scew up the next one, it's all on the studio.

@Intoxicated I dunno. The reason that Iron Man, Thor and the new Batmans worked so well, I think, was because the directors understood the creative concepts from such a great perspective already.

Martin Cambell directed Casino Royale, for instance, but Green Lantern wasn't as good as it could, and should have been, because he lacked that refining quality.

I think they should have more commentaries, last few had hilarious moments. It'd be good if they did 4some commentaries, like director and main 3, then ash, jack, kel, and nikki etc.

yeh, good stuff, Steve Merchant would be brilliant doing anything to help too, his scene in Hall Pass is brilliant, check it on youtube. Plus it might go down better as a double act.

Ok, just watched it on bluray, and I have to say, when you know what to expect, it is alot better. I would've preferred the idea of the manhunter storyline, blending in with the rest of the corps, touching on Carol and Hal's love story, then parallax in 2nd movie, him becoming more prominent then, but I'm more excited for a second one now.

@ROFLitschristian Yeh, but you can't really blame him, that movie was trashed - crazy jazz and emo parades. I just think his voice in particular would be good, and in my opinion he looks like the kind of person who could be under the mask.

@aoshi Yeh, If I had my way, I would've made Keanu the GL, Topher as Deadpool, and Reynolds as Flash. And I would've replaced Blake with pretty much anyone, maybe Rachel McAdams, because she and Keanu have acted together in a romance, but I haven't seen it.

@ROFLitschristian It might just be me, but I think Reynolds should get focussed up on his green lantern, and leave deadpool behind. Maybe Topher Grace or someone would be good in that role instead?

@bruce-ha it's fair enough, the costs for advertisement would've been massive. There was quite a big ad campaign in the uk, that costs ALOT, so they are kind of right to be hesitant, but dvd sales should cover any doubt - I didnt particularly like the film, but I want to see it again for certain scenes.

It should happen, I think. They just really need to see where they went wrong, and with the following sinestro story, they can pull it back.

I thought alot of things were wrong in the first - spent way too much time on earth, star labs/ waller was unrealistic, the acting didn't seem genuine, and the love story/ earth scenes were unnecessary, and Parallax shouldn't have come to earth - it would be annoying for them to just ignore that in the next movie. It should have focussed on the dynamic team spirit of the corps, like in that sinestro scene for a moment.

And I don't think he was convincing as a pilot etc. I would have preferred Keanu Reeves to play Hal - he pulls off the look of being a willful person more. And I thought it should have been the manhunter betrayal, starting with Hal being trained and taken to patrol on other planets for a bit before that - like the JL episode 'In Blackest Night' with Jon Stewart.

But with all these things being focussed on in the right way, and decent perception of the concept (like Ken Branagh with Thor, or Jon Favreau's Iron Man), a sequel could easily make up for past mistakes (that should be a driving force for it too).

With the skrulls being tipped for the avengers, then I would definately think that Beta-ray will be making an appearance, as it would bring Odin's emotional input into the situation like it did in the first, and another team up would be cool after iron man 2. I wonder what the concept would be for him.

I think it should be animated, and have michael keaton return. But be more like the movie rather than Tim Burton style animation.
