Anonymous, that sounds like something tainted by Joel Schumacher. I have a feeling that Nolen will try and avoid most of those flashy comic book villains...although Wayne being a depressed drunkard would make sense.

I know I posted it before, but Cameron was willing to do another Aliens movie based on an idea he had. Fox instead went with those terrible AvP movies and Cameron moved on...such a pity. Though I am pumped for his next project.

I'm with Ottley. Why? One of the greatest things about the original is the mystery and intrigue of the alien spacecraft holding "strange leathery objects...like eggs or something." A prequel will destroy that atmosphere Scott masterfully set up in the original.

Ottley, I remember reading about RR's Predator 3 /story idea back in the mid 90's. I was disappointed it was never made...didn't it originally have something to do with Dutch leading some marines on the Predator planet? I swear it was something like that... Sounds almost "ALIENS," doesn't it?

I'm trying to think of my favorites. Obviously, AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, in my opinion, is the greatest werewolf movie ever made. THE HOWLING was good, albeit tongue-in-cheek at times. SILVER BULLET was good, too (hey, you can't beat Gary Busey fighting a werewolf!). The original THE WOLF MAN was a classic in every sense and set the atmosphere for the werewolf genre (foggy mist, gypsies, irony, and mystic whispers of the wolf man as a tragic figure ["the way you walked was thorny through no fault of your own"]. WOLF with Jack Nicholson was good. THE COMPANY OF WOLVES was weird, but artistic. Anybody see CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF? It's an oldie, but goodie! Outside of the wonderful DOG SOLDIERS, there hasn't been a good werewolf movie in a long time. Did I miss any other good werewolf movies?

Wasn't The Howling made in '81? ha ha...just for fun last year I netflix'd all the Howling sequels. Terrible waste of talent with Christopher Lee in part 2. Laughable at most. Part 7 was strangely bizarre (even for this genre). I found myself drawn into a world of George Jones, country line-dancing, and chili farts. You didn't even see the damn werewolf until the end and only about five seconds at that. Weirdo-bizarre movie.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I agree with Ottley - it's the JAWS of all werewolf movies! They are indeed taking it too far! This movie is a staple of my youth! Remaking THE WOLF MAN - cool (because, although a classic, it's really old). Remaking a classic that's younger than I am - not cool. I will not see it and will not support all the remakes from Hollywood with their CGI and talentless young actors.

For some reason, every Halloween movie since I can remember has been released in August. I remember going to see H2O with my dad and thinking it was odd watching it in August. If these would be released in October, at least people would be in the mood and the atmosphere of the movie would fit. And I will say for the record that I don't understand why Hollywood is remaking so many damn fine films. Why? I guess they're out of ideas, but damn, don't disrespect the originals by trying to make them "better" or "updated" in a new context.

INDIANA JONES AND THE PORTAL OF TIME
Premise -- Join Indy on his latest adventure as he discovers a portal that takes him to Los Angeles in the year 2029. There he joins forces with the legendary John Connor to aid in the human resistance against the machines. Witness the iconic Jones rescuing Connor from a CGI Arnie! Cracking whips and blasting laser guns working together to save the fate of mankind! Be sure to watch for cameo appearances by Marty McFly and Doc Brown (*hint -- the Dolorean is disguised as a winged Hunter-Killer.) |

Mark my words...it'll be PG-13 and marketed to a younger crowd. If you don't believe me, see LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD and TERMINATOR SALVATION (both decent movies, but uncomparable to their R-rated predecessors). Hollywood has lost the concept that made "old school" cool - suspense, grit, and ingenuity. Instead we get child and teenage actors to tame the main characters, colorful and pointless explosions/shootouts, and eye-rolling stunts that are impossible and utterly ridiculous to walk away from. Sorry for the rant...I haven't finished my first cup of coffee.

I don't want new Ghostbusters.
I don't want them to pass the torch. I don't want girls as Ghostbusters. Handling a proton pack is a man's job. It's cool to go old school. |

Just for the record...I did not think ALIEN 3 was that bad. I remember seeing it in the theater and, although not the rollercoaster ALIENS was, I found it different and creative. Some parts didn't flow well, though. Fincher was shooting with an unfinished script and it was his first job...I found the extended cut to be very interesting and revealing as it was a seriously compromised film. STILL, I'd prefer the Dark Horse story over it anyday. And don't get me started on that weird crap they call a fourth film. RESURRECTION was bizarre, disturbing, and annoying all wrapped up in one. Don't take a franchise like ALIEN and reduce it to computer effects, one-liners, and tongue-in-cheek humor.

Yeah, I had read Cameron had worked on a script, but ceased when he heard AVP was going to be made. Too bad. You'd think that with Hollywood running out of ideas (sequels/remakes) that FOX would have capitalized on Cameron's work (guaranteed success) - but instead opted for cheap pops with Frankenstein vs. Wolfman....er, I mean, Aliens vs. Predator.

Has anyone ever read the Dark Horse comic sequel to Cameron's ALIENS? It was published before ALIEN 3 was made. Amazing story. There were a trilogy of tales to tell the story. Newt is a young woman with *ahem* issues. Hicks is a full-blown alcoholic who still can't come to grips with what happened. Ripley doesn't show until 1/3 of the way through the story. The Company finally brings aliens to Earth and all hell breaks loose. It was a spellbinding story that had so much potential. After the other movie sequels were released, the reprints of these had name-changes done to it's characters so as to fit the "cinema" universe. I think Ripley should still be in hypersleep experiencing the nightmares the movie sequels and AVP movies really were and pick up right after ALIENS. I know this won't happen, but damn, a guy can dream...

You know...episodes 1-3 aren't bad storytelling...what's wrong is the fact Lucas can't write a script worth a damn. Omit Anakin's awkward lines, Jar-Jar and the whole "midichlorians" thing, get a director and screenplay writer who know what they're doing with Lucas' story. Let's face it, Menace would have been better had Anakin been a silent prodigy and no Jar-Jar and no ruining-the-Force-mythology-by-scientifically-explaining-it-away-with-midichlorians. Clones would have been better, again, if Anakin kept quiet. I agree, though, 4-6 can't be touched. Revenge of the Sith was really good, though, if you can stomach through Menace and Clones.
