Just picked up my copy of Pandorum today. Very underrated movie and the DVD is jam packed with great extras. Highly recommend picking it up if you're a movie buff (or a sci-fi fan).

Wow! Looks intense.

The new Karate Kid trailer got me thinking. Why do people get so worked up when Hollywood decides to remake or re-boot a classic franchise? I've never understood this, especially in cases where the original franchise has produced countless horrible sequels (Friday 13th, Halloween... etc). I mean, the damage is usually done long before the remake, Jason in Space anyone?!

I always look forward to seeing a modern take on classic stories. Movie making has come so far in the last 20 years, it's fun to see what new filmmakers come up with.

Finally, even if the new movie is bad, it's not like the original somehow ceases to exist. You'll always have the DVD movie in it's original form. The new movie in no way changes the original, it's just another person's vision of the same story.

And how sad would it be if we never got Batman Begins and The Dark Knight because people thought that Tim Burton's take was untouchable? We would have missed out on one of the best superhero movies ever created.

Looks fun, I think Jackie Chan will be great in the Miyagi role. And I have to laugh every time someone complains about remaking a "classic". First, let's not pretend the original Karate Kid was Citizen Kane. It was good for it's time, but really doesn't hold up well today. Second, the franchise already jumped the shark with Karate Kid 4, starring Hillary Swank. So why not reboot it for younger audiences? Looks like they have some fun nods to the original for older fans, too.

Ooh... LOVE the Mark Valley pick. He has the perfect all-American look for Cap. Plus, he's a blonde and we all know Cap is blonde. ;)

I love Jon Hamm on Mad Men but think he's too dark and brooding for Cap. Maybe that's because I've only seen him as Don Draper, though.
