Wow! The sinking of the Mercedes was actually 1985. Man, was I off by a few years. The lady whose Palm Beach home, it ran aground on, was Mollie Wilmott. She just died about three years ago. She became quite a celebrity, because of the Mercedes. I want to eventually build a radio controlled scale model out of wood, of the Mercedes. Maybe make it look like it did when it was new though. That would be sweet. We have a huge lake near our house, to run it in too.

Just read up on The S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald. Tragic. Looked too long and narrow. The Merces was a bit smaller and much shorter by far. That's a good guess that it was snapped in half.

I noticed your new avatar. Reminds me of this old freighter I liked that was called the Mercedes, that ran ashore in Palm Beach Florida, on the back of some lady's property. There was this kind of mystic about it, and it had a following of interest from several people in the local and surrounding areas.
Even by most people's impression, it was just an old rusted piece of junk, I thought that there was something cool about it.
Sadly, it was eventually deliberately blown up, sunk and turned into an artificial reef for the fish, about fifteen years ago.

It kind of haunts my memories in a semi-profound way.

The Titanic does so even more, even if I wasn't alive in 1912.

There's something about any ship, decaying in the cold depth of the ocean that unnerves me with interest and intrigue.

And I get to stay up late, because we dont have school the next day and I get to sleep late. And hopefully I will have MW2 by then so I can play it all dayyyy longg on wednesday. :)

yeah he does some great shit, The Myst was awesome. Only I wish it would have ended with Thomas Jane being killed or consumed by the Myst instead of the tanks rolling in last minute, that was just a bit to much for me. The rest of the movie was amazing though.

Some one should adapt The Wanting Seed, by Anthony Burgess. That would make a great movie. Another good vehicle for P.T. Anderson to direct.

Whos, doing the Battle Royal remake?

You hear they're making a remake of Blood Simple? Thats the reason I want to make my movies on my own accord, that way years down the line some schmuck behind a desk wont have the opportunity make a quick buck off my work. They're doing it with Straw Dogs as well.

At least with that I can say it's been almost 40 years since the last one came out. That and they're are working from the source material instead of the original movie.

Every time I see there's a remake coming out, i feel like the filmmakers are thinking in the back of their head "I can make this better".

My sentiments exactly. "The brilliance of that story deserves to be seen by audiences on a wide scale..." What the fuck, if that's the case than why does it need to be remade? Why not take the money that's going to be spent on a new movie and put it into distribution and marketing.
