Wow, I thought that music seemed really familiar. Anyone ever see the trailer for THE SHINING from 1980? Look it up here on MovieWeb, and you'll see what I mean.

HBO should remake 'Salem's Lot. TNT's 2004 adaptation made this Stephen King fan hurt deep down inside. How is it that the 1979 made-for-TV adaptation was actually a scarier film? The teleplay sunk everything I'd hoped for in a 'Salem's Lot remake with its senseless morphing of Matt Burke, the nonstop barrage of digital age references, and dialog so bad that I actually laughed out loud when I was apparently supposed to have been scared. I won't even get into the laughable, homo-erotic Mike Ryerson scenes that were actually two of the most frightening scenes in the 1979 Tobe Hooper original. The only highlight of the film was Rutger Hauer's portrayal of Barlow. Too bad he only had about seven minutes of screen time. In addition, the dialog was so unrealistic that it almost turned a horror movie into a comedy.

It took me a minute to figure out where I'd heard that familiar music from the teaser for 2012. Look up the trailer for 1980's THE SHINING here on MovieWeb, and you'll see what I mean.
