My name is Ben, and I've lived in Chicagoland all my life.

I’m a recreational boxer (and of course, a huge boxing fan). I’ve also enjoyed the sport of MMA, and am proud of its growth in the last 14 years. I’m a die-hard Cubs fan, and can be found throughout the summer at Wrigley in the bleachers. I used to skate (still have all my decks) but have been off my board for some time. That said, there’s a new skate park that has opened not too far from me, and from the looks of those youngins, they could use some schoolin’. ;) I try to bike as much as possible, especially in the local forest preserves.

I like all types of music, but focus on classic rock, blues, and alternative. Anything from Chevelle to Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull to Alan Jackson. Siouxsie and the Banshees to Toadies, The Cure to Molotov…and everything in between.

I read anything from Paulo Coelho to Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, Sebastian Junger…you name it. If it’s good, I’ll check it out.

My love of Cinema started when I was four years old, and saw Star Wars (New Hope) in the theater. Then came the likes of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark…and forget it….I wanted to go to the movies every week. My parents used to take us to the Twin Drive-in in Wheeling, Illinois and they really were not too selective on what they did or didn’t show us. For example, I was eleven when I saw John Carpenter’s The Thing, and therefore couldn’t sleep with the light off for months. To tell you the truth, I loved being scared.

My taste in movies, like my taste in music, varies in genre. I really don’t go to the theater every week anymore, as I am busy with work and other things. That said; I’ve got plenty to catch up on. It takes a big special effects movie to drag me to the theater; otherwise I will wait for the DVD (or PPV). Examples of “must see in theater” are movies like Batman Begins, Spiderman, War of the Worlds, Transformers, Matrix Trilogy, Gladiator, etc. Examples of movies I’m content waiting for home viewing are like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Clerks, Napoleon Dynamite, etc. Of course my preference would be to see everything in the theater, but my time just does not allow it these days.

Here’s a list of some of my favorite movies, in no particular order, other than the way they came to my mind:

1. The Hustler
2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
3. King Arthur - The Director’s Cut (Antoine Fuqua)
4. Aliens (IMHO – all time greatest sci-fi movie every produced/directed)

6. Ghost Dog The Way of the Samurai
7. The Untouchables (Kevin Costner, Sean Connery)
8. Star Wars Episode 5 (Best chapter IMHO)
9. Star Wars Episode 4
