What about advanced screenings, where writers/critics put out their opinions of films before they are released? Does that "do damage" at the box office? And what about when studios don't allow for advanced/critic screenings because they know the film isn't good? Word of mouth has and always will sway box office numbers, wether it begins before or after a film is released. If someone likes a film / has read good reviews, then the ability to watch it online won't impede their desire to experience it in theaters.

What if I thought the movie was going to be bad, and after watching it online, thought it was terrible? Should I have paid money for a product I didn't like? Can I get my money back? Nope. I'm not perpetuating bootlegging by distributing pirated copies, I'm just using what's out there to make an informed decision as to whether I want to lay down $12 at the box office. Guess I'm just a nerd.
