Personally, I thought Cloverfield was brilliant and kicked ass! I can also see how some people didn't like the way the story was told. I wonder how many people sat through the entire movie, i.e. the end credits? If you understand J.J. Abrams' story telling style you can see the brilliance behind Cloverfield. As for a sequel...well, if J.J. Abrams is involved, expect more of the same, perhaps the same story, shown from another point of view.
