Fincher is just one of my all time favorite filmmakers! With what I just seen, this looks like it's gonna be Incredible! Cannot wait!
@jasonkat Actually using Shaun Of The Dead is not a great example, cause first off, I don't even associate Shaun Of The Dead with films like Scary Movie or Vampires Suck. It was a whole other ball game, or monster (if you will) unto itself. Because the whole point of Shaun Of The Dead was to poke fun at and really just pay homage to the zombie genre in general. So if there was a Horror/Comedy scale. In that particular case with that film, it would be completely balanced out because it meant to not take itself in ANYWAY seriously. I thought the scene where Pegg and Frost, in a drunken state, singing "White Lines" and using the noises the zombie makes to add to the song was just hilarious! And I'm saying the horror to comedy ratio balances out because sure the scares were there but everyone has seen them done over and over again. But the gore was very present, and the comedy was just as strong. Neither one element or the other was never stronger than the other. So yes, that kind of silly stuff was indeed suppose to make people laugh. And it did for a lot of people. You say when injecting comedy into a horror movie that its important that it be placed at the right time, well you're right. I think Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright knew exactly how to cleverly place the comedy into that zombie story. They never intended for Shaun Of The Dead to be a straight up horror film with just moments of strategically sprinkled bits of comedy through out the movie. That was never their intention. Now for those REAL hardcore intense horror films where it's ALL about the scares and the gore which leaves little moments of humor, then yes I absolutely agree with you 100% that it's just a give and take kind of thing where you gotta know exactly where to inject those comedic and humorous moments. It's totally a tight rope balancing act kind of thing. Because otherwise the jokes could completely escape the audience or leave them scratching their heads lol.
I completely agree with your review. I think the plot was so mind bending but had a lot of heart! And of course the visuals were so f*cking amazing. Although the robot fight scene didn't really remind me of 300 as much as it did, in some ways, of the battle sequence at the end of I, Robot. Just filtered through Zack Snyder's fantastical brain to produce some of the coolest sh*t I've ever seen in quite a while! lol And as i said the movie had heart. Cuz i really felt for those girls, especially BabyDoll when she had to sacrifice herself for Sweet Pea. There are just so many people cutting this movie down when they either haven't really taken the time to really see it and try to understand it, or they don't bother to see it and critique it anyway. That kind of stuff really chaps my ass.

I personally loved this movie. And i love to watch all kinds of movies. But this one I deemed as "A visual feast of a movie with a mind bending plot that has heart!" And I stand by that review! I don't think the story was weak in anyway. I think it was the fact that either a lot of people just don't wanna put in the time to think, that they'd rather just have the movie tell them everything that's happening; or people just don't know a good story when they see one. And i think that with what Zack Snyder does is that his visuals are so very strong that, for some people, it's difficult to see what the movie is really about. To me, yes, the visuals are there and quite noticeable; but there's much more to it. People just have to wanna Really see those other things.
I myself have a much more greater and deeper appreciation for films that come out when i watch interviews or behind the scenes. Because I hear it from the Source about why they wanted to make the movie they did, or why they liked it or be a part of it; and you know the amount of hard work that went into it. Even though most people will watch the films and simply just cut it down without even seeing it. Or see it but just say its bad just because there were certain little things they didn't get or like.

@daveactor7 -- "You owe it to yourself to see a film before you critique it." ~ Woody Harrelson. Don't let a bunch of "Movie Critics" decide for you (and i put those words in quotes because those people mostly get paid to rag on movies). But you have to realize that there are so many more Critics out there who do "get" the material, they "get" the movie. Think for yourself, decide for yourself whether or not YOU like the film. You're missing A LOT of movies everytime you decide not to see a film Simply because a handful of "Movie Critics" say it's not good (more so often said because they either didn't understand something or they weren't a fan of something they saw, or just because they wouldn't know a good movie if they came up and slapped them in the face).

@mattbierwagen I think it was a red band trailer. Besides this movie doesn't really seem like something that would be released in theaters nationwide lol.
