I was curious when Widmore asked Ben "are you here to kill me?" and he responded "You and I both know that's not possible". What exactly did he mean by that. Did he just mean that it was in Ben's best interests NOT to kill Widmore, or is there something that's actually physically preventing him from doing so (hokey as it sounds, a magic spell or something comes to mind).

The thought that came to my mind was a comparison to the island not letting Michael kill himself. I think it is physically impossible for them to kill each other, because it is explicitly against the fate that the island seemingly dictates.
