Post on the Narrator's Wall

I'm tired of Gibson being such a touchy subject. When is the last film he directed? then we look at Roman Polanski and he's still up and kicking... the f*ck, Hollywood?

The point I'm trying to make is that I agree with @thedude-abides. Gibson is above this type of film, and deserves to make the types of films he wants to make. I'm still waiting for that team-up he was supposed to have with DiCaprio about vikings...

Faora sounds like the big bad ass, and I'm absolutely okay with that.

@diaigma should be pleased this is moving forward.

Perfectly said, @moviegeek. Solid actress, not an overly likeable celebrity in my opinion. People - myself included, at times - should differentiate between the two.

That car will be your death bed... sweet.

This project has a knockout cast and a solid director. Definitely anticipated.

@thedude-abides Lol. Much appreciated, friend.

@bawnian-dexeus, I meant that as a completely legitimate compliment. You started off writing decent reviews (whereas I started off writing crap), and you're now a fantastic and incredibly speedy reviewer that is in my opinion leagues beyond me. Be proud of yourself, man. We'll only improve from here on out... what were we talking about again? Lol.

@ejk1 First off, congratulations! Second off, I didn't make a single crack about you all day. Lol. So like @dan1 said, don't lump me in with these other joe-shmoes. Also, what were your thoughts on the trailer?

@bawnian-dexeus I doubt that, man. You've been improving for years as a reviewer, honing your skills rather well. I, on the other hand, wrote my District 9 review as soon as it came out, and came off as a fanboy through and through. Not one of my proudest moments. :/
Yupp, @bawnian-dexeus. They don't seem to get the fact that we're more or less unaffected by their little outbursts and circle-talk. :P

Gah, @thedude-abides! Why don't people get that I loved District 9?! I really regret using it as a film in which to contrast Looper now, if only because people seem to have forgotten my glowing, poorly written, 5-star review of the film. Or the year I spent campaigning for the project before it was released, when most hadn't heard of it on this site. I mean, I was O.G. supporter of that film on movieweb.

@thedude-abides Lol! That was unexpected, and I feel almost apologetic for jumping to conclusions. No worries though, mate. You explained your reasons quite thoroughly, and I must agree to being a little underwhelmed by the lack of emphasis on any form of narrative in this trailer. Then again, we saw a lot of cool sh*t in those brief couple of minutes, so obviously a lot is going to happen along the way for our hero. I'm expect a District 9 scenario, like @the-movieghost suggested. I'm expecting a lot of symbolism at the very least, along side the expected solid performances, great set pieces, and sprawling action sequences. I just hope Blomkamp and Co. live up to the title of the project. It's called Elysium, after all: "The place at the ends of the earth to which certain favored heroes were conveyed by the gods after death." or "A place or state of perfect happiness."

If that type of a title isn't deserving of an excellent f*cking film, I don't know what is. So fingers crossed this turns out to be more than just a rushed sophomore installment from Blomkamp, who seems to still be retreading designs from past projects (Halo and District 9).

As the late Roger Ebert was fond of saying, "A movie is not about what it's about; it's about how it's about it."
