Just wanted to stop in and say hi. Hope things are going well with all of you. I was just reading over some old threads, and your posts made me all warm and fuzzy inside. You guys got me through some of the worst times of my life, and I'll never forget that (you know who you are)!
Everybody from 5-6 years ago who's still on here, feel free to post your updates. I'd love to know what you're up to these days! Lots of love, Momerath |

My new favourite is pomegranate martinis. I don't drink very often, but when I see those on the menu, they're hard to pass up.

Not over yet. Still living in Ottawa, at least for one more year. I'm starting my degree over again in Nursing, and I might transfer to Camosun College in Victoria after first year (and once Dave finishes his degree at Carleton). We'll see.

I saw Shine a Light in IMAX Sunday night. The theatre was packed, with the average age approx. 40-ish. I actually worried I might have to perform CPR on some poor old Stones fan who was unprepared for the awesomeness of IMAX.
Long story short, the movie was pretty freaking amazing. As expected from a Scorsese movie, visually impressive (as well as a little overwhelming, but what IMAX movie isn't?). Only two of my favourite songs were featured, but I'm not the whiny type to complain along the lines of: "They only played their old/new/crappy/less known/(insert whiny adjective here) stuff!!! What a rip-off!" A good time was had by all, and no one had a heart attack, so what more can you ask for? |

It's lovely here in Victoria. I'm here on my honeymoon, trying to talk the hubby into moving out here. So far he agrees with me that it's the bestest place on the planet; the only downside is the $$$$$. Average house costs $400,000+. But I could tolerate renting here. Less snow, more ocean and absolutely full of beauty and awesomeness.
By the way, hi all. Miss you guys. I quit one of my jobs, so I'm hoping to rekindle my love of movies and spend some time on here again! |

OMG... don't tell me it's the Red Lobster on St-Laurent street near Cora's... I was just there on Victoria Day!!
Yep! And I was working Victoria Day. So I almost certainly spoke to you, at the very least welcoming you when you came in or telling you to have a nice day when you left; I might have even taken you to your table. I find that incredibly amusing. What's with you crazy Montrealers driving 2+ hours for seafood? I swear, about half of our customers are from Montreal! |

I kind of have... I'm working two jobs these days, one at the hospital as an admin assistant, and also as a hostess at Red Lobster. It amounts to about 50-60 hours a week. The rest of my time is pretty much spent exercising, either at the gym (about 5 hours on the elliptical per week) or walking all over town (about 10 hours per week). So I'm pretty exhausted, and I barely have time to spend with my fiance, let alone to converse with others, or to do fun things like watch movies. God, I have no life. With so little of importance going on, there's really no point in posting. I have nothing to share, and even if I did, I have no energy to do so.
And even on the rare occasion when I do catch a movie, I'm far too busy/tired to have an opinion about it. I've essentially become about the most boring person I know. Go me... That having been said, I miss you guys. Hopefully one of these days, I'll have a life again. But for now, I'm going to head off to bed, I have an opening split shift @ RL tomorrow :( |

News in point form (if anyone cares, or even remembers me at this point ) :
-finished my fall classes ~microbiology: A- ~animal physiology 1: B ~physical chemistry: B (I've come to the conclusion that I'm NEVER going to get my scholarship back; I would have to get an A- average at least) -new classes: ~animal physiology 2 ~organic chemistry 1 (retaking the first year course to get a better mark) ~criminology (just for fun) ~genetics -just got the second part of my student loans -spent far too much money on tickets to a Vancouver Canucks vs. Ottawa Senators game within minutes of realizing that I had received said loans -pre-ordered Twin Peaks Season 2 on Amazon, after waiting two freaking years for it to come out -got a kitten... her name is Jenga and I love her so -discovered a Wal-Mart within 15 minutes (walking distance) of my apartment (good for everything except clothes... Wal-Mart clothes are gross) -thinking about becoming a paramedic... I'd just have to get my driver's license first Other than that, my life is full of boredom and/or stress. Mostly stress. I need more sleep. Somebody send me a PM if you have a second... I miss getting those, and I want to catch up with all of you guys. |

Dave and I tried to see it on Boxing Day (after spending $500+ that we didn't have), but it was sold out. So, assuming he isn't working, we'll finally be going on Sunday.

I saw it a few weeks back. Overall, I thought it was excellent. However, I think I died inside a little while watching it. Lately I've been taking my empathy for protagonists a little too far, so movies like this stress me out. So much running and blood...
So in conclusion, as much as I hate Mel Gibson, he makes a damn good epic movie. |

Ok, so the big news:
I'm engaged!!! Dave proposed to me last night, just before we went out for dinner. He came up to me while I was checking my email, completely unexpectedly (not the most romantic way, but I figured if he was going to propose, he would do it during dinner, so it caught me completely off guard). Here's a link to a picture of the ring: http://www.nexopia.com/galleries/momerat h86/1/Engagement/3 (Sometimes the site can be slow... sorry!) Needless to say, I had a pretty amazing birthday! :marchmellow: |

So I have news... boring news, but news nonetheless.
I've had five midterms so far, 2 for microbiolgy, 2 for animal physiology, and one for physical chemistry. My first microbiology one, I left devastated. I was convinced that I had fucked it up pretty badly. I was almost in tears. However, I got it back a few days later, and I ended up with 95%! On an exam with an average mark of 58%! I got the highest mark in a FRENCH class, full of FRENCH people! It was absolutely ridiculous! I got 82% on the second one... not quite as good, but still quite satisfactory. Physical chem is my worst subject. I hate it, and I can't keep track of all of the damn formulas. I still passed (54%, with a class average of 50%, so still tolerable). As for animal physiology, I seem to be pretty mediocre. I got 68.5% on the first one, and the class average was 67%. I just had the second one today, which I'm pretty sure went much better. So I feel reasonably intelligent, which is a big improvement from last year. Other than that, it's my 20th birthday in 8 days. I'm ever so excited, although I can't really say why... I'll let you know in a week or two. I'm also ridiculously on top of my Christmas shopping this year. I've already bought all of my presents for my former babysitter's grandchildren (who are adorable!), and for my only cousin, who's 10 and impossible to buy for. I ended up getting her a French version of Monopoly, because she's in French immersion and seems to really like it, and since it's a lot easier to get things like that here in the East than it is back in BC. I also got Dave his present (or at least, most of it), and it's absolutely perfect. There's no way he'll suspect it. I'm going to be cheap and give my sister my old cell phone, since I just spent way too much money on a new phone. Then I just have to get presents for Dave's parents, his sister, and my dad. And I have to get some Christmas lights for our windows, to make things all festive-ish. Other than that, life is pretty boring. Lots of work and school, which leaves little time for movies and the like. I finally got through Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which I had tried to watch a good 5 or 6 times, but could never sit through. It was pretty hilarious at times, but overall was a little too abstract for my liking. I also saw Borat, which was maximally funny. A little overdone, and I'm not sure if it was exactly true to the show, but still an amusing movie. I have the feeling I'll have a lot more news for you next weekish... again, can't elaborate now, but you'll see... ~momerath |

Mmmmmmmmm... honestly, I barely watched any new movies this year.
Well at least you have a social life. Nothing exciting seems to happen to me anymore. I'm one of the few that I know who managed to get away from high school drama altogether, but at the cost of my main source of amusement: interacting with stupid people. Am I complaining? Not really, I guess. I just need to get out more (BTW, am I the only one who finds this emoticon deep-throating a lollypop disturbing? :lollypop: And this one is one of my favourites :angrymob: ) |
