El Rocho
not sure how a statement like "better" is provable or makes sense since everyone sees a different film from the person sitting next to them I think Both of these movies wake up Tons of activity with usually dorment emotions I liked Magnolia much more than Requiem for a Dream, and I will probably get hammered for attempting to get critics on my side which is normally not necessary or actually relevant in my eyes but rottentomatoes.com's critics say these ratings are based on 100's of people's views, not just yours and mines Requiem for a Dream Magnolia regular critics 78% 84% top critics 73% 78% masses 93% 89% I will say I unfairly have seen Requiem for a Dream once and Magnolia about 5 times, have you seen them both the same amount of times (wow I forget Magnolia is 3 hours and 5 minutes long) In this case I seem to agree with the critics and the top critics, and it seems that you agree with the masses who took the time to log in their enthusiasm or dissaproval for this movie. I would say Requiem for a dream has a WAY HUGER cult following and I usually lean heavily towards these types of films and these cult fans, except for this time, so maybe I should watch Requiem again Also these two movies are almost a given predicting greater critic approval I imagine the critics would like Magnolia more for many reasons and it might not be entirely because of the films superiority but because it might just be more palatable I usually don't see eye to eye with the masses or critics, but usually never the masses, so I am thrilled that this lil display kind of fits into my thought process with the higher numbers from the Magnolia matching my interests and me being against the mainstream masses likings Not calling you mainstream ElRocho, far from it, and have loved reading your words here and on everything I have seen you post and I bet I even love herbal mood levelers as much as you see you at the movies Cheers |

Requim for a Dream made me feel the same way!!!!!!!! (8/10)
a bunch of years back I was shopping at a mall with my best friend, and he put two movies in my hand, Magnolia and Requim for a Dream, and said, "Buy these" I bought them both and had trouble watching both of them. Magnolia (9.5/10) has since blossomed into one of my favorites, but Reqium for a Dream was like getting kicked in the face the entire movie. It's the most difficult movie I've ever watched, and I have seen "Let Them Die Slowly" banned in most countries, no comparision, Requim slays them all I just saw "The Wrestler" (9.5/10) another Aronofsky film, and I loved it, but I have to say it had a similar difficult feelings attached to it where it just left me feeling queezy, I would watch The Wrestler 10 times in 10 days because I could relate with it much more, Requim, not likely more than once a year Leaving Las Vegas is also one of my favorite love stories of all time Amazing film (9.5/10) |

First time I have heard of a Lost fan disliking Cloverfield. I'm a complete Lost freak, and I loved this movie.
Sure, the thing about Hud holding onto the camera the entire time was a bit of a stretch, but haven't you ever heard of "suspension of disbelief"? It's a movie after all, and a monster movie at that - it doesn't need to be totally realistic in every aspect. hey supersyd nice hearing from ya I have heard of suspension of disbelief, I listen to paranormal talk radio and anti government (pirate) radio all day long ........ and I love LOST and Blairwitch I find it impossible to compare Lost and Cloverfield LOST is like a 100 hour long movie, soon to be like a 130 hour movie I love the characters, the twists, the mental worout it puts you through, the highs and lows of emotions, the writers, and the dialogue and I didn't see any of this in Cloverfield, even George Lucas and Peter Jackon have done some admitedly unwatchable stuff in their careers thanks for your words and thoughts (VERY COOL) gratefully, Damon |

I am very surprised to see positive feed back on this film
The critics seem to be lumping it into the cinematic abomination category Plus I have heard from a few different people that were dieing to see this. They said it was damn near impossible not to walk out of it and was so insulting and painful to spend time with They loved Sin City, but they said this was a triumphant disaster in every category thinkable I asked them if they even liked the usual stellar Samuel Jackson and they both said, only if you don't mind awkwardly forcing yourself to laugh at unwatchable crap They said, themselves, their friends that went with them and the entire crowd left VERY DEJECTED at life and time wasted and I thought the secdon trailer looked monumental any other people see this yet????????????? |

For me this movie fell short of my expectations, but they were pretty low even being a huge LOST fan.
In my eyes it just didn't make sense for the camera man NOT to put the camera down and do more significant, logical, life saving an life preserving ativities while this all went down. I understand they made him seem very stupid so that is an excuse, and I suppose someone could argue that he wanted footage of this, but that is just so uncharacteristic to psychological studies of fight or flight, the camera doesn't belong in either human instinct of such a catastrophie therefore making the whole thing fall to pieces for me I foolishly compare this movie to Blairwitch where I think Blairwitch beats it in three categories Never see the monster = more suspense and intrigue = Blair witch WINS cared about the characters way more, I can envision all three characters and their moods from BLAIRWITCH, and I saw this at least 10 or so earlier, and I can't recall anything important about the characters from Cloverfield including their appearance Plus the whole why we are filming and why we are not putting the camera down thing = goes to Blar Witch as well BW made snse, Cloverfield needed unfeasable actions to hold the story together For me at least |

Yes it is dieing
........... and being reborn we are going through the bumps currently this is a human evolution thing, not a business thing as far as money and the boxoffices go, many people are getting lazier, and unimaginative so in turn people will keep flooding the theatres Judging films successfulness based on dollars made from movies comparing the past and present is tough for me to gage, since the opportunity to see films has become limitless compared to sparce showings of films in the past and the prices keep going up so I guess there are multiple factors to consider |
