I don't care about hurricanes. They can destroy america and I won't give a sh*t. Those people are so retarded that they get hit by hurricanes and yet rebuild their homes with wood. Weren't they aware that concrete is a better resistant to hurricanes?
Fortunately and unfortunately for you, you have not lived through a hurricane. The fortunate part would be that they destroy pretty much everything (that's right even concrete) and the unfortunate part would be that it has caused you to be ignorant to the fact that hurricanes are giant whirling winds of destruction. Hurricane Andrew ripped the roof off my concrete house and everything was destroyed. Now I will agree with you that people are stupid here in America, but you can't just say that were stupid for building are houses out of wood because that's not completely true. Don't talk without knowledge kid. From where I lived before France I've passed through at least 15 cyclones with gusts of wind reaching 260 mph. So get informed before talking. And I've been living since always in a concete house and even saw poor people whose houses were destroyed rebuild houses of concrete with government's help. even from my natiev country are people not retarded to build it in a easily destroyed material, specially when they know they're on a usual hurricane trail. |

I saw this movie last week in a sneak preview, and it was REALLY FUNNY! the previews do not do it justice....
for example there is one part where rob dj asks michelle mohagen's character what she does for a living and she goes, "i do a little acting".... after that they cut to a scene of her doing porno with her boobs flopping in the air. Hilarious! It wasn't her doing the porno...rewatch the movie. He was talking about some women who just thought themselves big stars because they acted for 5 minutes in a horrible movie |

I'm really hoping that Fox picks up the option of making it into a trilogy
I would love that! I loved the movie as it is...and think that any attempt at making it a trilogy will just ruin everything. I'd rather see the movie as the ultimate goodbye to the Firefly series rather than some attempt from studios to get money... |

From Movieweb: In "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang," a breezy take on Shane Black's trademark buddy action/comedy oeuvre, a petty thief (Robert Downey Jr.) is brought to Los Angeles for an unlikely audition and finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation along with his high school dream girl (Michelle Monaghan) and a detective (Val Kilmer) who has been training him for his upcoming role. The movie was presented at the Cannes Festival and was not listed in competition. It's quite a good movie, with it's good dosage of humor, wit and action. Yet there are some minor problems. About the acting, I found those of Val Kilmer and Downey Jr to be decent if not good. They were credible in their roles and they seem to have a little of an alchemy between them. That was perfect since the characters never needed and weren't supposed to have that kind of relationship. Things only get to improve along the movie. Monaghan on the other side is rather plain (and I'm not talking about the breast scene she has inthe movie). Her character lacks depth. Even though the reasons of her presence in Los Angeles and her motives for beign here are exposed, we don't feel like things have been fully dealt with. They simply look like an exposition of facts and that's all. Her character is also simply that of a love affair who all of a sudden gets into trouble. The 'negative' aspects are quite minor yet they tend to disrupt the general mood of the movie. First off, the narrating voice over. I'm ok for some voice over in the movie but all that is just plain strange. We get things mixed up and never know what to take in: pictures we are seeing or an erratic narration which doesn't follow any logical set paterns? Moreover, the Johnny Gossamer leads are quite lame. The second aspect is the story itself. The plot seems to have (or try to have) so much 'twists' that we no more know who's doing what and why. We just get confused and tend to just let some info pass by for fear of missing something else in the story. Monaghan mediocre acting has been dealt with and is by the way the third disturbing factor. Anyway. The movie is quite fun, we have some good jokes (with the stars look-alikes) and Downey Jr mishappenings and noobish detctive like skills, good action sequances and that's it. The movie is one which is easily forgotten but it's quite a good entertainment. It's quite worth checking it out. http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/7978/star34vg.gif |

From Movieweb: In a remote mountain range, six girlfriends meet for their yearly adventure, a caving trip into the arteries of the earth. The group makes their way through the remote cave system, enjoying the hazardous but beautiful surroundings. Then, deep inside the cave, disaster strikes when their route back to the surface is blocked by a rockfall. When they learn that Juno, always pushing herself that little bit further, has brought them to an unexplored cave, and that no one is coming to rescue them, the group starts to splinter. Left with no other option, they push on through the cave, praying for another exit. The women battle through this harsh underground world, pitting their strength and determination against each new challenge. Unbeknownst to them, there is something else lurking under the earth, a race of monstrous creatures hidden from the light, evolved to live perfectly in the dark. As the friends realize they have become prey, they are forced to unleash their most primal instincts to face the creatures. As old wounds break open and loyalties disintegrate, the women realize the horrible truth-they have most to fear from one another. WOOHOO Excellent movie, maybe the best english movie I've seen this year! As the french taglines says "There are horror movies and there are movies which scare you." The Descent is definitely in the second type listed. The story is almost basic but the setting is real creepy. There is a slow, careful build up that establishes the key characters and the claustrophobic darkness of the cave. While this is slightly over long, Marshall skilfully uses this time to create fear and tension with the group and the audience. On the acting front there are two standout performances from the six female principle and these are Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Jackson Mendoza as Sarah and Juno. Each of them plays strong female parts that come into their own when the trouble really starts. Macdonald’s Sarah sees the most growth, as her character switches from a woman riddled with images from her traumatic past and an overwhelming feeling of grief, which you can’t blame her for to someone who takes on the fight, wanting to survive. In some way she looks like and ressembles Linda Hamilton inher role of Sarah Connor. Mendoza’s Juno is also a strong female character. Brave and willing to take risks, most of the time for her own gratification, Juno has much to make up for with Sarah but at what expense. The first half of the movie is mostly about building up the tension and the second one is the action / horror part where the fun really gets in. It soon reveals itself as an efficient popcorn movie. The ending is particularly well found and really got me involved in before the ending. That was marvelous! Only 'poor' aspect of the movie is that we have difficulty in making up the connections between the different characters. And the start of the movie is also imprinted with the shocking scenes which will determine the course of actions to be taken by the different characters. People might bitch about the quite dark filmic sequences but it has to be reminded that it was filmed in a 'cave-type' decor and that the lack of light is more than efficient to build up the tension and bring us together with the characters. This might not be a cult classic action / horror movie but it's definitely worth the price in the movie theaters when it comes out next year in the US. Go check it out asap. http://img343.imageshack.us/img343/5481/star51qj.gif |

From Movieweb:During production on his latest movie, an aging cowboy star (Sam Shepard) walks away from the set and heads out on a journey of self-discovery. The plot may seem very thin but the movie stands on its own very well. at teh very beginning we are left a bit quite in a misunderstanding with all the things happening. we get to discover a quite 'mystical' Sam Shepard who's quite brillant in his role. Being one of the screenwriters we can say that the role has been specifically cut for him. The part of old cowboy chap is quite like that of Clint Eastwood. They share the same wrinkles on the face and hard looking gaze. Thing is that Shepard is more tenderly in his manners and really puts on quite a performance. Jessica Lange and Sarah Polley have both a quite good performance inthe movie. Their roles are quite impressive though they almost do nothing at all. Lange excells inteh role of a single mother who's coping with thereturn of his ex-love affair who wants to get into a relationship. Polley, on her side, follows the path of her supposed father while carrying sacramentuously the ashes of her decreased mother. She gets to deliver few lines on the overall but most of them are key sentences in the movie, bringing in revelations about Shepard's character. The movie looks a little like Broken Flowers with the self discovery voyage and the roaming of an old man to find the truth about his past. I rarely findShepard good at what he does but I have to confess that his role in Don't come knocking was top notch. Is that the start of a new change in register in Shepard's cinematic career? We sincerely hope so for the best. One last thing I noticed was that the movie comes out in March of next year in the US and it's already out there in France. It's just weird. The scenes were plain beautiful. The music was very rythmic and almost trance-like; excellent use of music in the movie which blends ferfectly well. Tim Roth plays excellently an insurance agent on the tracks of a runaway actor and is adding a notch in his performance status. Well, anyway. Contrary to what I thought the movie doesn't have the typical slowness of a Wenders movie and is pretty good. Until it's US release in March 2006, here in France it easily gets a http://img420.imageshack.us/img420/8256/star451lt.gif |

From Movieweb: As the annual Giant Vegetable Competition approaches, it’s “veggie-mania†in Wallace & Gromit’s neighbourhood. The two enterprising chums have been cashing in with their pest-control outfit, “Anti-Pesto,†which humanely dispatches the rabbits that try to invade the town’s sacred gardens. Suddenly, a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging beast begins terrorizing the neighbourhood, attacking the town’s prized plots at night and destroying everything in its path. Desperate to protect the competition, its hostess, Lady Tottington (Helena Bonham Carter), commissions Anti-Pesto to catch the creature and save the day. Lying in wait, however, is Lady Tottington’s snobby suitor, Victor Quartermaine (Ralph Fiennes), who’d rather shoot the beast and secure the position of local hero -- not to mention Lady Tottington’s hand in marriage. With the fate of the competition in the balance, Lady Tottington is eventually forced to allow Victor to hunt down the vegetable-chomping marauder. Little does she know that Victor’s real intent could have dire consequences for her ... and our two heroes. That movie is just plain beautiful. I expected a lot from Nic Park but not that much. The characters of Wallace and Gromit alerady have a well laid psychological profile, making them easy to grasp characters right from the start. The creators had lots of time creating background info for the other personna and putting in much more style. I won't dwell much on it since we all know what a masterpiece it is. The only thing I was a little tricky about was the were-rabbit thing. I dunno, it seemed more stupid than funny. I was expecting a light hearted comedy with suspense and drama (and by drama I was thinking of something a little darker in concept, like a real frightening were-wolf). But that movie was aimed at kind, cheery and children-hearted adults. Anyway, I liked it very much. and though I never laughed out very loud in the theater, the ovie gave me enough chckles to make my day and make me recommend it to everyone. http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/5839/star50lh.gif |

The Last High - The Dandy Warhols
I am alone But adored by a 100,000 more Then I said when you were the last. And I have known love, like a whor* from at least 10,000 more Then I swore when you were the last When you were the last high high high high You were awake, And I should have stayed, but wandered. I was only out for a day. out for a day. It was Chicago for a moment, And then it was Paris and London for a few, days. Well, I am alone But adored by a 100,000 more Than I swore when you were the last. When you were the last high high high high When you were the last high high high high Well I was the first to have spoken And I said just about all of the things you shouldn't say. So maybe you loved me, but now maybe you don't. And maybe you'll call me. Maybe you won't. Oh So, I am alone But adored by a 100,000 more than I said when you were the last. And I have known love, like a whor* from at least 10,000 more then I swore when you were the last. When you were the last high High High High When you were the last high High High High |
