I fell asleep during this one.

Robin Hood was pretty good. I'm not a Blanchett fan, but I always love the team-up of Scott and Crowe. I loved the perspective they put Robin Hood in. Scott projected him as being an ordinary man, not this exalted idol among mere mortals. Great realism. The action was nothing too special. King John was okay, not this incomparable performance that everyone is raving about. And beware of the ridiculously stupid kiss at the end of the movie. Haha, it was really the only bad part of the film.
Also, there's a minor error on the screenwriter's behalf. Basically, in the beginning there is a dilemma where people have stolen the corn seed or whatever form Nottingham and Maid Marian is freaking out about it. Robin Hood is set in the middle ages. The New World had not been discovered yet, and corn had not yet been introduced to Europe. That bothered me when I was watching. |

I think that as a comic book film, it is one of the best. But when pitted against "real" movie per se, it doesn't quite live up to the hype. Some people state it as being one of the greatest films ever made. That's a little ridiculous to me. Nolan's great. Bale used to be great. Ledger used to be great. But it's not all that amazing. Just an entertaining movie.
Now, Inception... that looks GREAT. |

I was just short of dragged into the theater to see this with my friends. I admit, I didn't know much about it, but it looked like another ridiculous vampire movie. Not in the Twilight genre, but the Blade: Trinity genre.
To my surprise, it was actually not that bad. I enjoyed it a good amount. Willem Dafoe was great. |

Perfect review in my opinion. I felt the same way about it... and I too want to see it again. Perhaps I'll go in the middle of the day, when all of the teenie boppers are still in school and all of the annoying women are still at work. An ideal arrangement would be for me to be alone in the theater so I can really experience suspended disbelief and get lost in this film I was so excited for.
My girlfriend is pressing me to see Paranormal Activity, though. But that is an entirely different story. Damnit... |

Yeah, how can you advise other people not to see a film just because you don't think the original literature was long enough? And you shouldn't judge a film just by its trailer. My film professor does that so often. He thinks that the Drew Berrymore film Whip It looks like a "psychological realism" film because of the trailer.
By the way, Clark, this is Kevin. a.k.a. PepScootProd I saw this film at the midnight premiere. I would have loved it, and I know for a fact that I would have, if the woman sitting to the right of me wouldn't have narrated the entire thing. And laughed hysterically at things that weren't funny. And answered questions for the characters, so I couldn't even hear their responses. And just generally talk the entire time. The only time I was allowed to even enjoy part of the film was during the two minutes during which she went to the bathroom. I have to see it again haha. |
