@cupid As awesome as the Raimi/Tobey Spider-man was, it virtaully buthcered the entire mythos by doing a few simple things: 1) Making Mary Jane come before Gwen Stacy
and 2) Taking away Spidey's humor
and 3) Taking out almost every life/personnally changing event in the comics to make his film his own.

As a comic book fan first, I'm glad we are getting a reboot with- Wait for it- ACCURACY TO THE COMICS.

@cupid I don't see why your so upset about the whole reboot thing. It really isn't a reboot according to Weeb and tohers. If anything, its the Ultimate Spider-man to Tobey's regular spider-man.

@shuabert General Audiences don't know any of that and none of that has been shown in a film yet so...

@moviegeek It will. Theres ALOT in this movie that wasn't even mentioned in the Raimi ones such as Peter's Parents and the circ*mcstances behind their disappearance when he was a child.

@pjwolsker @shuabert They call it "The Untold Story" because this film won't be a simple retelling. It will be showing ALOT that Raimi's films left out such as his parents who were never even mentioned in the raimi films. Also, we will getting the beginnings of the epic tragedy of the Stacys (George and Gwen) and we'll see the transformation of Connors into the lizard and pretty mcuh the simple thing that went into Peter creating his suit, webshooters, etc.

Trust me, when the first trailer is released/you see the movie, that tagline will make alot of sense. Avi Arad already said when he said himslf that this film will tell the stories we didn't see in the Raimi films.

@moviewiz001 I agree. I mean I know its a modified version of the raimi version but modified or not, it bugs me but I mean Avi Arad did say they would be completely erasing what came before in the raimi series but just telling the untold stories.

I think its pretty cool and I think it gets across that we will be seeing the stories taht we didn't get get in the Raimi films including the cic*mstances behind his parents' disappearance, Dr. Connors' transformation into the lizard and the tragic story of the stacys, Gwen and Captain George Stacy.

@ROFLitschristian Well if they actaully had it come from his body in a organic way, it would need to come from his butt. That's why Stan Lee didn't do it that way.

In other words, Mechanical Webshooters are better.

@SpaceCowboy Ultimate Spider-man is a character in the Ultimate Universe of Marvel Comics, arguably number 2 in popularity, beat out in popularity only by the main stream universe.

The Ultimate Spider-man series debuted before the first Spider-man film was released and that film borrowed some from that book but not nearly as much as the new film will.

If you haven't read Ultimate Spider-man or any of the Ultimate Universe comics, you should give it a look. They are the inspiration for many elements in films based on Marvel characters. From the look of thor in his film to The entire bases for the Avengers film (Nicky Fury assembling them) to the idea to cast Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, which came from those books where they used his likeness for Ultimate Nick Fury. So, yeah it was a cop out to just cast Sam Jaxs, but it shows my point.

In conclusion, The Ultimate Universe predates most, if not all of, the films after 2001 so don't be confused.

If you guys wan t to know what this movie will be like, read Ultimate Spider-man: Power and Responsibility. The whole of this movie is inspired by that including the creation of the web fliud, how he gets his costume, and the fight scene at the school.

The girl in the poster's last name is Li so don't be confused.

@skywise The way movies are filmed these days, he'll likely be a man by time they get to the end. He's 15 now and with 2-3, even more sometimes, years between movies, I think he'll be of or close proper age by time we get there but I do agree, the actor should change.

Funny enough, I started reading Ender's Game right before I read this.

@skywise Hood is a good director. The producers and studio heads of X-Men Origins are to blame for that movie being a failure. You should look up the story of what happened to Hood and Jackman's original vision for that film.
