Ok just a quick thought...for everyone whining about how Avatar is an old used story, I would like them to concretely give me a film that is 100% original? Point here is that if you go back on human history to the days of oral tradition, every story has been told, retold modified etc. Even parts of the Bible are predated by stories and oral traditions before irs inception. The thing that causes films, books, plays, artwork etc to resonate with people is not so much the basis of it but rather the way in which it is told, or portrayed etc. Think about it, paintings like the Mona Lisa stand the test of time not because of what it is (a portrait) but rather the way in which the potrait was done, something within the familiar that causes it to be extraordinary....and on that level James Cameron has done that here. For whatever reason, its not the story being told, but rather how he is telling it, how he is portraying it and what he brings to it that makes it different and so appealing to so many.

Transformers will easily break 300 million and will probably end up between 350-400 mil domestically. It is already at 240 which is the second highest 8 day gross of all time, and 20 million higher than Pirates 2 which had 20 mil less at this time and ended up grossing over 400 million. It is a foregone conclusion, sorry Michael Bay haters, it is what it is.
