"Spike, what are you doing outside my house? In five words or less."

(counting off words on his fingers)"Out. For. A. Walk. (Drops hand, then brings it back up and lifts thumb) Bitch."

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE!?!? Ok, so yeah, lousy special effects...THEY'RE TV SHOWS!! They don't have the biggest budgest bro. Ah, I'm fighting a losing battle. You either love Joss Whedon or you hate him. Those who love him can't understand how you couldn't and those who hate him can't say one damn good thing about him. Even though he is currently writing the best X-Men comic in at least 20 years...

But one last thing; If you have the oppurtunity watch the episode: "The Body." That's what Joss Whedon can do when he wants to be serious. That's what Joss Whedon can do when he's completely in the zone. How f*cking cool is it that there's a whole episode where the characters deal with a death that wasn't brought on by demons or magic (cool when that's what the show is about, at least) and it has no score? The effect is quite unsettling and makes it feel so real it hurts. I've never seen anyone make it through that episode without tearing up. Guys AND girls alike.

Yes, she would most definitely have to be naked. Dear God, that woman had a stunning body. Mmmmm...

Ok, I'm back. Yes, Izo was definitely one of those films that leaves people with mixed opinions. I think my problem was that before I watched it I had already built a crazy c*m fantasy about what it was going to be that when I saw what it actually was I just got dissapointed. And you're right, repeat viewings don't help at all. At least with Izo you don't get a smug DVD insert pointing out, well, pointless objects and turns of events that don't help you figure out WHAT THE F*CK A MOVIE IS ABOUT!! THANK YOU DAVID F*CKING LYNCH!! Oh well, at least it had a hot lesbo scene.

Anyways...no, I have yet to watch Yakuza Demon. It's been on my (long) list of movies to get my hands on for awhile now, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'd love to hear what you thought about it though, so I can know whether or not to bump it up to the top of my list. The man makes so many damn movies I don't think I'll ever be able to view his entire catalogue. Although for a month all I did was watch Miike movies. Seriously...nothing but Miike. That was a weird time....

But about that trailer link you posted.....HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!! If I was in a theater I would have impregnated everyone there. Guy Pearce, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, John Hurt, David Wenham.....written by Nick Cave...yeah, I definitely have a hard-on. I Googled this flick and came across Ebert's review. Now, the man has gone a bit coo coo for cocoa puffs lately but he gave it four stars! Also, according to him, it's extremely f*cking violent. I couldn't be more excited.

Ahh...It feels good to talk about movies like this again... :D

Well said. One thing I did notice in the trailer was that the whole apartment complex could see these fantasy creautres so here's hoping he's doing a straight up 80's fantasy flick. I'm definitely onboard, seeing as how the only M. Night film I didn't like was The Village. In fact, I disliked it so much that I farted, quite loudly, when the "twist" was being revealed. The audience must have agreed, because both the guy behind me and some dude behind him followed suit. It was like we were creating a cacophony of flatulence to voice our opinion on the movie. Hopefully I wont have to do a repeat performance during this one.

I saw the trailer when I went to Superman Returns and needless to say it got me excited. Which is what a good trailer should do. I love the old Superman TV show, and I think Adrien Brody is one of the greatest actors of this generation so I was sold when I read about the premise. Sign me up.

People love Superman, but I think general audiences are more in love with Spiderman right now. Two kickass films back to back and a third one that looks to be just as awesome. We've never gotten a perfect superhero trilogy before. Sam Raimi may just deliver.

But to turn this conversation on it's head, I'll revert from Spiderman to Superman by saying...um...Superman Returns kicked ass and I'll be seeing it at least two more times, and maybe once at the local drive-in if it has it.
Well at least you got somewhere. Most people who have questions like yours never figure out what movie they're looking for. But hey, the good news is I figured out what movie it is your post reminded me of!

Just kidding...I'm not that big of jackass. Although some may say differently...

Still no sign of Ichi I suppose. Poor bastard, probably met his end at the hands of some sick f*** that resembled the movies that he loved. Probably just the way he would want to go out.

LOL!! Hate to post three times, but I just now read this. You guys know me all too well it seems...

I can't get the, quite hillarious, image of me laying on the ground, Christina Lindberg look alike shoving a sawed off shotgun in my face while I'm crying tears of joy and whispering; "This is the way I've always wanted it..."

Or maybe that's only funny to someone as sick as me.

Speaking of Miike, Tourniquade (and any who are interested) click here

What you're getting is two different trailers for one of Miike's latest films, which teams him up with Hisao Maki for the first time in awhile. Whenever they get together, it usually means you can prepare yourself for 100% badassness. I, for one, am glad to see Miike return to his roots and do a straight up action/Yakuza pic. He's been getting a bit avant garde lately, and this film looks to be pure unfiltered cool as only he can do.

I can't wait for Media Blasters to bring this one stateside. That being said, they're still about 50 or more of his films that haven't seen the light of day outside of Japan, so I guess it's a 50/50 chance they'll pick this one out of his extensive catalog. But it's one of his most recent flicks (released in Japan this year) so it would make sense that we should see it on DVD shelves near the fourth quarter or early 2007. Keep your fingers crossed.

Symbiote. Gwen Stacy. Huge Sandman. Venom. Dark Peter.

Ichi has a boner....

Ahhh...Izo. Quite possibly the most pointless film Miike has ever made. I wanted to like it so bad, but I just couldn't. I mean, all the ingredients were there. The premise was cool as hell; Samurai type murderer gets executed and then travels through time, space, and hell dimensions endlessly battling all whom he encounters to try and find peace. But the execution was just....man...I hate to say it but it was pitiful. But hey, the DVD cover art was at least pretty to look at. Made it look a hell of a lot more epic than it was, too. And what was with the Japanese poor man's version of Bob Dylan? Ah, f*ck it. I stopped trying to make sense out of Izo a looong time ago.

But you saw Sympathy for Lady Vengeance? I have yet to do so, and it's killing me inside. I think I'll just hold off for the August 5 release though. I kind of want the packaging for all three movies to look alike, so I'll stick with the Tartan Region 1 releases. I know...I'm weird as hell. But after reading what you wrote I'm salivating at the mouth to get my hands on this flick. Sounds like OldBoy is still the undeniable masterpiece of the trilogy but hell, we all knew that the minute it ended after our first viewing.

However, I do want to call out Simnia, if he's still lurking around here.

About Visitor Q...You seem to have missed the point. I'll admit, it's easy to do since it's all but lost amongst the pooping and milk bathing, but it was a slam against reality TV in general, especially the state of the sub-genre in Japan. Because of this, the point of the film doesn't translate well to an American audience. And you think Japan overly censors their films? Try Terrifying Girls High School: Lynch Law Classroom or School of the Beast. Both were made in the 70's, and should disgust you on levels you didn't know possible. :D

Funny how people assume "gore" means "bad." To me, attaching the word "gore" to a film is like attaching a steak to a naked woman. Basically it's a huge giant bug lamp.

And nope, not dead. Just got amazingly busy there for awhile. Glad to see one of the old members of our former little club is still here. I was starting to get worried that I had returned to find only smug lovers of indie film...
ichi posted in the forum: Pearl Harbor - a second look
Putting a cheap love story against a historical disaster is what turns a film into a money making vehicle of crass exploitation, as well. Anyone remember how they actually premiered this f*cker at Pearl Harbor? It would be like premeiring United 93 at Ground Zero in NYC.
ichi posted in the forum: Superman Returns
If you ask me, i think there should be Superman, Batman, and Spiderman movies from now on...NOTHING ELSE.

I echo your statement. Though, having Joss Whedon behind Wonder Woman gets me excited. Hell, the guy has built a career on strong female leads. That and he understands that the goddess of the Trinity doesn't have the greatest mythos. So he's working on his own and incorporating what is cool into that. Could work.

And if they didn't f*ck it up, a Green Lantern flick could be the greatest thing ever. Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars. But I fear they would f*ck that up. Just like they'll f*ck the Flash up if they let David Goyer direct it. We all saw how well that worked out with Blade: Trinity...

But to be on topic, Brandon Routh IS Superman now. I can't wait for the sequel, seeing as how he basically knocked it outta the park this time only makes that much more excited to see him do it again.

But uh, Bryan Singer, if you can hear, please DON'T do a Zod retread. Please....

I'm so f*cking there. And I already know that there are people out there who will hate on this movie all the way up to it's release. It's the same people lamenting the fact that Michael Bay is directing the Transformers movie. Transformers=Big Action and Explosions....Michael Bay >/= Big Action and Explosions. Sounds right to me.

Same deal here. Guy who did Final Destination 2 is at the helm. It's a movie about f*cking snakes on a plane. Deadly snakes. Films like this don't need Martin Scorsese in the directors chair.

BWAHAHAHAHAH

people are hating this film because it looks like UTTER crap. They jack up movie theatre ticket prices so that they can release garbage like this?

Hmmm...I think they're jacking up movie prices because too many film geeks are at home jerking off to their HDTVs and surround sound. That's a creepy image, so I'm gonna just skip to my main point here....

Basically, That Kid said what was on the tip of my brain when I saw the reaction from some of you guys. There seems to be this huge little renaissance as of late. I'm glad I wasn't invited along for the ride. It's almost as if film geeks get together and decide exactly which big summer/popcorn flicks it's okay to be excited about and then sh*t all over the rest.

So yeah, Snakes on a Plane isn't going to be Munich, but I still stand behind my original prediction that it will kick ass. You judge a film on whether or not it succeeds at what it's trying to be, not whether or not it stands up against Fellini's ouevre. Not every film can be a f*cking masterpiece. Not every film needs to be.

Oh, and Banshee, The Rock kicks ass. But you forgot about Bad Boys. And you know you kinda liked Armageddon the first time you saw it. All his other movies are crap. But Transformers and Michael Bay go together like franks and beans.

Click it here; Spaced Invaders

At least, that's the flick I watched when I was a tot. It was made in 1990 and may or may not be the one you're looking for.
Wanna get even more frustrated. I watched that movie all the time when I was a kid but can't remember the name of it either. At least you have someone to share your madness now...

Superhero films lend themselves to cheese. Ever seen Superman I and II?? Two cinema classics dripping with cheese. As long as you're not asked to digest it cheese can be fun.

That being said, the first two Spiderman films kicked ass, and when I saw the symbiote climbing up Peter's arm in the trailer I got a boner.

Versus is the f*cking balls dude. That movie kicks all kinds of ass, and then some. The film's director has been working in overdrive lately, and a couple of his movies have found their way stateside recently. Skyhigh among them. And no, it has absolutley nothing to do with the Disney movie. And it's not quite as good as Versus, but is definitely worth a rent. As is Alive, another film from the same madman. Though, that may have already been mentioned here. If so, woops.

P.S. What's up tourniquade?
