Movie posters are so boring and unimaginative these days... too much smoldering or looking worried
GROND29 wrote a comment about his Review of Prometheus
Thanks Dan, I thought it was about time I put up another review
GROND29 reviewed the movie Prometheus

""We made you because we could""
Really happy with this news, I always thought IMAX should be the way film goes, not 3D. Agreed with other posters here, if they are not shooting in 3D then there is no point in converting it, besides they would only show the 3D version in IMAX cinemas and I want 2D!
@dan1 You speak a sad truth there buddy, its just a shame that those non-fans don't know what they're missing. But I suppose these movies fulfil that category of dumb, mindless fun that we are all partial to now and again.

I laughed pretty hard at Milla's tweets, @jasonkat hit the nail on the head with the first one! I can just see Anderson's checklist of things to include. I would much rather they focused on getting a decent story in the wider cinematic sense of the word than plonking in random characters from the games for no particular reason.
GROND29 wrote a comment about the news item Resident Evil: Retribution Lands Boris Kodjoe
Hang on, if this is meant to be a prequel, before all the characters meet each other. How the hell can Boris be in it? he can't be with Alice because he doesn't meet her until the 4th one. The same with Jill for that matter, who she doesn't meet until the 2nd one, so they would all have to have separate storylines and never meet in this film! They can't even use the memory plot hole because at the end of the second one alice says that she "remembers everything", so if she already met him in the prequel, she would remember who he is in the 4th one, but she doesn't. Also, even if Alice meets 'One' and Jill in the prequel and then has her memory wiped at the beginning of the first film, 'One' and Jill would still remember HER in their respective films when they meet for the 'first time' as they haven't had their minds wiped. God these movies suck, but the RE fan in me doggedly goes to see them year after year hoping there might even remotely be something akin to the horror of the games.
I want real action, fight scenes and in camera stunts, none of that cgi crap that was so obvious and cheap in the last film

@dan1 I agree, saw Super 8 yesterday and Elle's performance was fantastic!
This looks amazing!.......but I wish I hadn't watched it
GROND29 wrote a comment about the news item The Hobbit Dwarves Bofur, Bombur and Bifur Revealed
This article confuses the actors playing Bofur and Bombur. Anyway these dwarves are looking great. Bombur was always one of my favourites along with Balin! I'm really starting to get a sense that the films will be imbibed with more of that fairy tale quality that the book had, which distinguishes itself from the Lord of the Rings
GROND29 wrote a comment about the news item Star Trek 2 Tie-In Comic Book Arrives This Fall
This is cool, but I'd rather they focused all their money, time and effort on the films
Cool thread! I always remember family and friends birthdays by what film came out that year!

As for me: 1988

Die Hard
Beetlejuice
Child's Play
Rambo 3
The Naked Gun
The Land Before Time
My Neighbour Totoro

a good selection of films, its a shame it wasn't 87 then I could have had PREDATOR! although I sort of calculated that I would have been concieved around the time that Predator was released! does that count? :-)

GROND29 wrote a comment about the news item The Hobbit Start of Production Video from the Set!
Still not sure I like the idea of the whole 48fps thing but, news and videos like this just remind me of how much passion the whole crew and especially Jackson have for these projects and therfore my confidence in them to produce something truly special. The blocking of the Unexpected Party made my day! I'm going to try not to watch any more of these brilliant blogs for fear of spoiling the nostalgia of Middle Earth when I see this on the London IMAX on opening day! "six more weeks of pre-production? No no no lets just start shooting!" awesome!

@grond29 So when will we be expecting more reviews from you? :)
  • Hi Supes, sorry been really busy with work recently and of course spending a lot of time in the cinema! I'm still working on my review of Alien which I aim to get on here soon! stay tuned! cheers
GROND29 wrote a comment about the news item The Hobbit Will Be Shot at 48 Frames Per Second
@k-man My thoughts exactly!
They should just get rid of the cast, crew and 3D and spend the money on apologising to George Romero for not using the screenplay that he wrote for the first film and get that made, have any of you guys read it? so awesome!

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at studio meeting for these things, listening to all the ways they can f*ck people over. The mentioning of de-aging the characters with CG is just hilarious. The title sucks too, it should be called REborn like the fantastic remake of the original game for the Gamecube.
Regardless of whether the Twilight films are any good or not I still strongly believe that it is wrong to have so much about the films leaked onto the internet ages before they are released.
a reboot of a reboot?
