GaiasGift gave this a Thumbs Down
WOW. I am SO offended.
First of all I am a Wiccan. Been through years of training and study, just the same as those who train and study to be a pastor or a priest- with the same legal privileges and rights as other non-"funky" established religions with churches.
I am NOT a waitress. I am a stay at home mom, taking care of my children while my husband goes to work to provide for his family. I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty damn funky to me.
I don't go to a 'support group' like those who deal with an eating disorder or alcohol addiction. I do meet with others who practice the same faith as me, if that is considered going to a support group than I suppose millions of Americans who attend church go to support groups too.
And, believe it or not, I went to the grocery store and a cashier had a cross on her neck. I guess Christianity is tied to the profession of store clerk, I had no clue... my guess is there's alot of grocery clerks and deli managers practicing it. But not the restaurants- those spots are all reserved for us Wiccans. :eyeroll:
I have never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Charmed, or even watched The Craft until very recently. I don't practice anything more scary than the Eucharist is in Catholicism. I don't douse my guests with sage or throw it on anyone. A history lesson for the interviewer and Lauren Bowles: Sage smudging is actually a Native American practice that the New Agers and many Wiccans (but not all) have adopted. And Lauren, smudging your house does NOT mean you're a Wiccan. There's much MUCH more to it, and I have my serious doubts you would trouble your pretty little head about any annoying things like picking up a book and reading what Wicca really is.
I used to be a child actress and the VERY FIRST THING they teach you in acting class is to develop your character and do research on your part. Instead of insulting the group of people she is supposed to be portraying, maybe she should do a little research before opening her mouth.
I was considering beginning to watch this show because I have alot of friends who recommended it. This interview totally turned me off and I have no desire to waste my time supporting anyone who won't spend the effort to study for their role. Especially when it hits so close to home for me.
