@knightmare90 So basically all your casting decisions would be based on whether or not an actor has already played a role where he LOOKS like the character in a picture? Because it's not like anyone else on the planet could grow a scruffy beard...

Have you even seen The Rover?

Best news this franchise has had in a long time.

Not only has Johnson directed 3 great movies, he's directed some of the best episodes of Breaking Bad.

@gumperman You don't have to tell me about forming my own opinion, trust me, I haven't read a review before watching a movie in the past 7 years. That being said, once you've seen a movie unbiased and formed your own opinion, it's good to see how others are analyzing the film. It's called expanding your horizons beyond your own opinions, it's how you grow as a person instead of with an"I liked it, f*ck everyone else" mentality.

And of course box office doesn't translate to quality (just look at Transformers 2), but it becomes obvious that the Spider-man franchise is decreasing in revenue at the same rate it is decreasing in quality. To see how it's done, look at the Marvel films; they've proven to be good films, and as a result of that quality they're making much more money than when they started out.

Now that you've seen TASM 2 more times and are realizing how it isn't holding up, you might want to ask yourself what exactly is it that's wrong with this film. This is a pretty awesome essay on it:

@seiya The problem isn't Webb, it's the writers and the studio. They hired Webb because he's a "new" director that can easily take orders from Sony, who is making all the wrong decisions in order to make all the money they can as fast as possible.

Glad it's underperforming for their expectations. They expected this movie to make 1 billion internationally, they'll be lucky if it makes 700 million.
"Huge success that the franchise is enjoying?"

It's the lowest grossing and worst rated Spider-man movie yet.
It's so fanmade it even says "Arnold Fans" on it.
Godzilla rewards the patient viewer, and the payoff is worth it. Those seeking instant gratification and standard destruction porn should seek out to transformers and let the rest of us enjoy some higher quality entertainment.
@shuabert I know, right? The guy hasn't even directed a TV episode or a commercial and he's being handed a $200 million dollar movie, on the 50th anniversary of a beloved franchise. With a limitless selection of more talented directors waiting in line...
