Ok, It is quite obvious that there is only person who has posted thus far that I would actually call an AVP fan, and that is Demonicus. The first move loosely followed the plot of the both: The AVP books and the Comics. The predators would team up with us in order to make sure the Aliens or "Hard Meat" (Humans are soft meat) do not propagate out of control. The aliens are the most feared life form in the GALAXY, they are able to sustain life in ANY environment including the vacuum of space. This is way the predators choose to hunt them. They are nomadic and not only do they hunt the hard meat they plant the eggs of the aliens on planets to have a place to hunt.
Also, not only did they team up with the girl from the first movie , but she eventually joins the predators for a period of time and becomes a hunter HERSELF. The two main points that break from the actual store line are: 1) The event takes place at a livestock outpost on a far away planet. & 2)The predator that she teams up with is one of the most revered Hunters of all time. So much so that when he blessed her with "his mark" at the end of the book, that gave her the right to be a hunter. She was always an outcast and was never really accepted, but she was a hunter none-the-less.
You never see their technology because they are forbidden to use it when hunting. Hunters can only use weapons that are equal to their prey. Thats why when a human has a gun they shoot, and when that don't that kill them hand to hand. To do otherwise would be an extreme dishonor and would be accompanied with the hunter being exiled. The ONLY exception to this rule is the hard meat. Thats why you never see them with really badass weapons, which they do have.
So stop bitching about being off story, Hollywood has bastardized the entire store line of AVP from the very beginning. Go read the books written by Steven Perry, read the comics, and learn what the store line actually IS before you try to say that it is wrong!
