The original poem believe to document events in the 5th century was a central inspiration for author J.R.R. Tolkien whose academic career was built around its analysis and explication. Based on the Beowulf poem Tolkien would go on to write ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. So needless to say this big screen outing for Beowulf has a lot to live up to. He is shocked to discover that the humans have been stealing and eating the bees' honey for centuries, and ultimately realizes that his true calling in life is to set the world right by suing the human race for stealing their precious honey.
