My favorite films, year-by-year since 1989, the year I started watching the Oscars each year. If I had sole control of the Academy, these would win best picture, in my opinion (notice that some of them did).

Ah yes. Sin City. Liked it, but, I love my Star Wars, and that was really the best of the prequels. Poor Jedi kids. I feel for them :P
Thanks, @Wichitagalzl - Soon I'll have 2010 up ;)

Red Camera Man
2005 and 2007 were the best years for epic movies I thought. "Star Wars: EPISODE III-Revenge Of The Sith" is the 2nd best of 2005. "King Kong" is the 1st best of that year. And as for 2007, there was "Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix" (which I think is the best one of the whole series), "Spider-Man 3," and "Transformers." I've not seen "Ratatouille," but it actually doesn't look any interesting to me.

Great idea for a list. I would've picked The Departed over Casino Royale in '06, but, to each his own. Cool list.

The problem with this list style is that some of these years had multiple of my favourite movies in them, there lies the rub. Forrest Gump or The Shawshank Redeption? Hard choice.
