Actually, Corban, I believe you're the one who hasn't paid any attention to the Predator storyline. They don't go around with the sole purpose of hunting humans. They hunt countless species across the known universe because their society requires them to continually test themselves in combat against the strongest, fastest, and smartest prey. If, however, there is more than just personal honor at stake, they would have no problem accepting any help they could get. They know how dangerous the aliens can be, and they would prefer teaming up with one human to orbitally bombarding the planet and wiping out thousands of species.
As to the comment of dongena, we don't see very much Predator technology because to use more than what they have used so far is dishonorable. What is the challenge in a hunt if you can kill your prey from miles away? They want to prove themselves capable warriors, not good shots with a gun. Also, there is no single "Alien planet". The aliens are spread amongst countless planets. The reason for this is that the Predators are nomadic race made up of some hundred or so different tribes. Each tribe travels on its own ship, and they don't interact much. Think of Native Americans, if you need an example. The different Predator tribes wouldn't go to the same planet to test themselves all the time. Rather, they would each have their own world or worlds where they could train and pass into adulthood without interference from outsiders. Lastly, to those who think a single Predator can easily destroy countless aliens: try logic for once. The Predators hunt the aliens to prove their worth as warriors. That means that the aliens have to be an impressive challenge. A single Predator--unless it has skill rare compared even to its fellows--shouldn't be able to take out many aliens at once. It's expected that some will die in the process of fighting the aliens, because otherwise it wouldn't be a test of anything other than conserving firepower. Hopefully this will put things into perspective for those of you not yet knowledgable of the storylines of the races. |
