Christopher Reeve

"Possibly the death that makes me most sad on this list, Reeve died October 10, 2004 from cardiac arrest. He will always be fondly remembered as Superman, and a genuine hero in real life with his activism after becoming a quadriplegic after being thrown from a horse. You were a superhero on and off screen, great sir, a part of me died the day you did :(.... R.I.P."

Bruce Lee

"Suffering from intense headaches and seizures, Lee died July 20th, 1973 after taking the painkiller Equagesic and not waking (from an overly swollen brain and a bad reaction to the medicine). You kicked ass like no other, Mr. Lee... R.I.P."

Heath Ledger

"Died January 22nd, 2008, with the 'official' ruling being acute intoxication of several drugs relating to sleep deprivation. While I ambiguously, partially blame TDK and him trying to bring the most intense portrayal of Joker possible (in effect ruining his mental health) for his death, that's obviously just a personal view of mine. R.I.P. good sir, and thank you again for giving us one of the greatest performances ever captured on film. The world misses you :("

Marilyn Monroe

"Found dead in her home on August 5, 1962 by 'acute barbiturate poisoning', Ms. Monroe's death has been heavily debated between being either an accident, suicide, or possibly even homicide (with the theories of her being tied to JFK and the mafia). Marilyn was a queen in her day, and an immortal sex symbol. R.I.P."

Elvis Presley

"Being one of the more mysterious on my list, Elvis died August 16, 1977. His death was rumored to be either a heart attack or possible overdose of drugs he was on at the time, and had become a shell of his former self. However, before that he managed to change the face of pop culture and rock and roll music forever. You were truly an epic icon, good sir. R.I.P."

Phil Hartman

"Murdered by his wife on May 27th, 1998. She then committed suicide after confessing to the murder twice. You were genuinely funny, Mr. Hartman. R.I.P."

Brandon Lee

"Son of legend Bruce Lee, Brandon also suffered a tragic, freak accident end, when a real bullet was fired from a gun during the filming of The Crow on March 31, 1993. Say hi to dad for us, good sir. R.I.P."

Brittany Murphy

"Certainly one of the more mysterious Hollywood deaths, Murphy died December 20, 2009 from supposedly an overdose of prescription drugs, although pneumonia was also ruled as one of the reasons by the coroner. Her husband then died 5 months later by the same means. You are missed, Ms. Murphy.. R.I.P."

"Dead on August 16, 1956, from a heart attack, while supposedly clutching a script from Ed Wood's The Final Curtain. He was buried wearing a Dracula costume. He is remembered as the definitive Dracula, that many other interpretations of Dracula were modeled after. R.I.P."

Bernie Mac

"Dying from complications involving pneumonia on August 9, 2008, Bernie Mac had to be one of the funniest modern comedians. America, we lost a great one that day. R.I.P., sir."

David Carradine

"Found hanging and suffocated to death in his hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand on June 3, 2009. Possibly by the dangerous and popular sexual act 'auto-erotic asphyxiation'. With his bizarre death, the world lost another great, between Kill Bill and Kung Fu, excellent movie and show. R.I.P., sir."

Great list, Supes. You mentioned some of the greats, and provided well enough info on each death. Two things in the info I noticed, though: 1. Bruce Lee was also on pure THC through the cannabis plant (some places do not report this for obvious reasons), and 2. Marilyn Monroe was tied to the Kennedys, which is not a theory. Other than that great calls on a lot of these, I personally miss Brittany Murphy, Chris Reeve, Bruce Lee, Heath Ledger, Bernie Mac. No Princess Di though? Hahaha what a good list idea.

Appropriate and excellent list Supes. Unique and very respectable to those great legends that have passed on. I cannot agree more on those you have chosen to put on here. It is sad to look at this list and realize how many great entertainers we have lost...

I know what you mean. It's not a list you can 'like', but at the same time respect and appreciate. This is just me giving my due to the people I felt were important and of note in Hollywood and society.

And before anyone gives me grief for my descriptions of their deaths, remember, some are very debatable, and I'm just going by what I've looked up on them. So it's certainly not the be all end all reasons for their deaths.

It sucks that Lugosi not only starred in, but died during the production of Plan 9 from Outer Space . . . "The worst movie ever made" :( - Didn't know he was buried in a Dracula costume!
