Relax a little bit. Sometimes you have to change the actor. If changing the actor was never done we'd still be watching George Reaves as Superman. How would it look if the guy who played Superman in the 50's was still playing him today? Also with the exception of Star Trek what T.V. actors have gone on to play the character they play on the small screen in movies. Not many memorable performances here. Beside the movie is Superman not Superboy!

I went in to the theater to see Training Day totally unsure of what I was going to see but when I came out I was almost sppechless. I new at that point that Denzel would win the oscar. To this day I watch that movie almost weekly.

You know to this day I have never been able to stay awake while watching Seven. SO I have never actually seen the ending. The film kind of bored me.

WHat the hell is going on here. Back to the question at hand. Obi--wan was not a master at the end of EP2 so why couldn't Yoda have taken over his training. In case someone forgot Qui-gon died in EP1

Lucas freely admits that he got many of his ideas for Star Wars from the Flash Gordon series. When he made StarWars it was with the idea that they would be a take on the old Flash Gordon serials he watched as a kid. When you get the trilogy DVD's and watch the doc*mentary that A&E showed the other night you'll see that. By the way the extra 45 minutes that are on the DVD really would have made the TV special better. I just finished watching all three movies yesterday and the quality is something I'm glad that I had to wait for. This means I have the Set already for those of you who are slow learners.
Many of his ideas in this series came from other movies and shows as well. There are three aliens in ROTJ that that were named after characthers in The Day the Earth Stood Still. When it comes to science fiction there are not a ton of new ideas being created. Just old ones with a new twist. It's called modernization of an old idea. This is where most film ideas come from if not based on a true story. A writer is taking information that hes gained from whereever in his life and translating it into a somewhat comprehendable format. Unlike the blather I seem to be coming up with. As for me being a newbie and giving you respect thats got to be earned. Aoshi and Brian as well as a few others have done that. You are getting there but not just yet. The reason I only have a 190 or so posts is that I take a few months off and then come back for a week. Te originals here would know thats how I do things. |

Being a fan of Star Trek my self I wondered about this same idea but later saw an interview with somone involved witht the film and the only real reason they killed Kirk was to put an end to the classic cast and finally give TNG and shot all to them selves. It is however and Ironic plot twist.

If Lucas were to take his cues from Jackson then each film would have to be the super special edition wiht about 2 hous of additional footage.
Of course it will be the SE. HE has been tinkering with these films the whole time to finally complete the films that he didn't have the technology to do it earlier. If anybody can translate what I just typed let me know because it make no sense to me. ~DOOFY |

Brian you're forgetting Lucas's main driving force. GREED!!!!
Actually this would be very hard to do unless it was set so far into the future of the galaxay dar far away because of the expanded universe. I do realize that it has always been said that the movies are tha only gospel truth. However the confusion fans who have read hundreds of novels and short stories would be be very costly. As if the garbage that is most of EP I did'nt already do that. Still the fanboy that I am hope it happens. ~doofy |
