@Slysnide: I've seen Avatar and Alice both once, and personally I would go see Avatar again before I'd see Alice. It's a better movie and the 3D is better. For a movie that was so hyped for being 3D, Alice did a pretty poor job of using it, IMO. I wished I would have watched it in standard 2D.

Oh snap! Like I said, I haven't seen Valkyrie, but I've loved everything else he's done, including Superman Returns.

@Xoptionm3: How is that any different from Michael Bay putting Megan Fox on display in Transformers?

@Tyranus: Really? The "acting" looks terrible in Clash? Considering it's Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Pete Poselthwaite, and Ray Fucking Feinnes, I find that hard to believe. If anything, the dialogue might be bad, which is the writer's fault, not the actors'.

Shame, but if he comes back for X4, it would be worth it. Here's hoping they actually call it Xmen 3 and write off the Last Stand like they did with Superman 3 and 4.

I'd rather see him not helm such an ambitious film with so many beloved characters. He's not terrible; in fact I prefer him to Joe Johnston, but I would rather see Favreau or Branagh do it because they have more experience and have made better films. I've yet to see Clash, obviously, but Transporter 2 and Incredible Hulk were pretty devoid of depth.

Haha....those are some pretty exciting shots! All that's missing is a tumbleweed blowing across the frame.

It's pretty hard to get excited about a movie without seeing any footage from it. I just think studios should be more careful about what they put in the trailers. It would have been perfectly acceptable to hint at the Kraken without actually full-on showing him. Cloverfield is a perfect example of a trailer that teased but didn't give anything away. No one even knew what the monster looked like until they watched the movie.

I'm not watching these. I'd rather see it all fresh in the theatre. Frankly, I wish they hadn't even shown the Kraken in the trailer. Stupid studios spoiling shit.

Back to the actual news item, why do you think they're casting several roles for athletic, female swimmers?
I'm thinking they're either going to have an all-female pirate ship, perhaps captained by Cruz's character, or else they're going to incorporate the Sirens from Greek myth into the story. |

@andrewryan: I agree! I'm hesitant about Marshall directing this. Verbinski did such a good job on the trilogy I'm not sure the direction Marshall will take it. However, when you consider it's going to be a unique sort of spinoff with new characters, maybe a totally new feel is a good thing. I'm excited to see who else comes on board as far as supporting characters go.

@ejk1: I think, other than the third film which they wrote him out of in the first act (terrible idea), the handling of him in the movies was quite good. But if you're a die-hard Cyclops fan -- I'm not and I honestly didn't think there were, lol -- I can see why you wouldn't like it.
@azador: You really think the first movie is the best? I've always found people, myself included, think the second is the pinnacle of the series. It juggles the most plot threads and themes, and manages to keep them all in the air, unlike the third. Bret Ratner is a terrible juggler? |

@andrewryan: Great post. Unlike most other people on this board who either have a boner for Twilight or have a boner for bashing it, you outline what you like and don't like about the project and don't come off looking like a moron.
I said it before when I saw the Eclipse trailer (keep in mind I know the basic plot from talking to people but I haven't read or seen anything in the series), "There are some interesting themes at work in this story, but the writing is just so bad." And yeah, Taylor Lautner looks bad from what I've seen, but you should check him out in his stint hosting SNL. He actually does comedy really well. |

But Cyclops always had more responsibility for the team than he could handle. That's part of the reason he takes everything so seriously and clashes so much with Wolverine who really doesn't care about his authority.
