I'm doing well, thanks. I read an early draft of Prince of Persia and it's not bad. Makes me wonder how they're going to pull off the stunts they described.
Hey thanks for letting me see the draft. Man Abaire really got paid to write that sorry excuse for a screenplay? Ross has got a lot of rewriting to do. Although it does set up #5 well. Yeah sorry about my profile, the comment box disappeared a while ago, I am still trying to figure out how to bring it back. If you want to reply to something I write on here, just write it here, or email me I guess. Could I possibly see Nightmare on Elm and Thor? Thanks man
I have read most of the screenplay's on your list, but thanks for posting it anyway.
By live-action series, I assume you mean for TV, and in that case, I am all for it.
Spiderman and Batman might be difficult to create, as most of the series would mainly run off of one character. It also might lose its creativity and become repetitive like some sci-fi sitcom.
X-Men, on the other hand, would transition excellently to television as you could execute multiple story lines and characters. Possibly follow the Lost formula and each episode center on a different character and his/her story while still revolving around a singular structure (X-Mansion, whatev).
I'm surprised a 'legit' series on a superhero hasn't hit the screen recently; it's a great idea, in my opinion.
A major downfall is televised shows tend to have shitty effects. Not cool with blockbuster material.
I'd love to hear more on the subject. What's your approach?
Yes "CBF" actually stands for something (GASP!) :D
Cool I would still like to read your draft for "TF3: Rise of Galvatron," besides your idea, that is simply a really cool title, definitely stands out. If I were Platinum Dunes, I would research the 3 top, hugest stories of Transformers and since they covered coming to Earth in TF1 and Matrix of Leadership in TF2 then Galvatron would be my next best guess as to the third biggest story, so that's what I would make TF3 about. Keep the film series true to the source, ya'know? So yeah, go ahead and send me that whenever, I gave my email below.
As for Bourne 4, yes that seems like a really good read and idea, however I seriously don't think B4 as a movie is such a good idea. As you say B2 and B3 were the "sequels" to Bourne Identity so that's the end of the story. What you propose sounds like another good Bourne book though.
And as for a live-action superhero series, well, telling the truth, I absolutely hated "The Amazing Spider-Man" from the 70's starring Nicholas Hammond, but I loved "Wonder Woman." I hated "Batman" from 1966 but I liked "Generation X" from 1996 (TV movie). Go figure. It all depends on who & what. Oh and How. How they are done is very important. You can't have a series about Spider-Man who shoots webs between skyscrapers, yet in the series have him standing on a porch throwing a yo-yo around and has suction cups on his hands and knees...it just doesn't work. LOL
I hope to god Spider-Man 4 is nothing like the scramble of misspelled words and campy dialogue I just read in the Lindsay-Abaire draft. Terrible. Disappointing. Written by a third-grader.
What'd you think? Do you have any details regarding the film's (screenplay) current state?
Hey Ottley, I want that David Lindsay-Abaire draft of "Spider-Man 4." I would be much appreciative. Here is the email: gsmith.503@gmail.com
Also I wouldn't mind reading some of your projects. "Transformers: Rise of Galvatron" sounds epic. Ooh and "The Bourne Eternity" like the novels... cool.
What's a great video camera that performs excellently, but isn't uber-expensive? From an amateur to a semi-semi-pro, I would like a camera that delivers an excellent picture, and for lack of better words, looks legit.
Quality. Focus. Oh, you know what you're talking about... ;)
I think so, but they can't use that angle today. I propose a lab accident, or a freak accident because he was supposed top meet Parker somewhere, but he, of course, never showed up.
Interesting read. Thanks. I assume that this isn't the whole film, just a direction that the story will take. Right? I'm loving the MJ frost and the Stacy interest. That's EXACTLY what I would have done, only I was thinking Lizard should kill Gwen, and maybe give the explanation of how Conners lost his arm. Other than that, loving the dialogue.
Hey, just wondering if you've heard of a book called "I am NOT a serial killer!" by my friend Dan Wells? It was published in the UK early this year, but it won't be State side until March 2010. Of course, I got to read it already. It's a good read.
Hey Ott, is that ok ?. about 15-16 years ago i started up an idea for a wendigo story i thought would make a good movie, its titled "The Long Forgotten." meaning the old legends, the old myths, stories the indian shamans would tell to those who would listen around the campfire. The Wendigo is one of these So Called Myths when it came the locals would hear a warning, a "whisper" in the darkness telling them to pray and protect themselves, Because this Creature had an appetite that could never be filled, When it attacked you its scream when heard paralyzed the weak with fear till they could not move and when it fed upon you it did not just devour the flesh from your bones, it fed upon everything, Flesh,Bones, organs it devoured everything until it reaches your soul its what satifies it for a short period of time to where it sleeps off its full belly. And it can only die when its physical form is mortally wounded...but anyone near it looking upon its deaththrows and makes eye contact the demons spirit will enter their body makeing them another Wendigo. And the premise would be around the alaskan pipeline "or something similiar in canada." with oil workers dissappearing and an indian tribe that is missing people who both think the other is responseable for the missing people. Then Both agreeing to team up together and find what is causing the damage to the oil line and the mysterious dissappearences... well what do you think ?
That is weird how the page refreshes itself. I've learned to copy everything before I submit, submit, let it refresh, post it all again, and submit it again, and it works the second time around.
Dude. Sinner sounds AWESOME! Kinda reminds me of Legion, a little. Your's has a different approach to it.
There's a heavy use of "world" that's (hope you don't mind constructive criticism) a little redundant. I played with your pitch a little and if you think this sounds better, be my guest. If not, then don't listen to me, because I obviously don't know what I'm talking about :P
THE END IS NIGH! GOD WON'T SAVE YOU JESUS AIN'T COMING THEY'VE PUT THEIR FAITH IN THE SINNER... THEY ALWAYS HAVE...
Meet the Sinner, an angel lost on Earth, dammed by the heavens, but never sentenced to Hell.
When mysterious occurrences arise that the apocalypse is drawing near, it is up to Earth's secret guardian to save the world from the impending antichrist.
Sinner is the Earth's last and only hope, but he must encounter his dark and obscure past to seek forgiveness and redemption, if he is to save anything- or anyone.
Anyway, hope you don't feel violated or anything. I like helping with the writings of others. What do you think?
Again, I like it. You too will have to let me know when this puppy get's done.
My style is very much rooted in the psychology of the character. My BS in Behavioral Science helps with that. I create whole back stories for my characters, even if I don't show it or explain it in the stories. Makes for a richer character = believable setting.
So, how do I go about getting this treatment of Spider-man 4? I wanna read it :)
I'm almost finished with a short story that I want to submit to Writers of the Future, called Forerunner. I'm not very good at short stories, but I too have been getting acclaim for it in my area, and my critique group didn't have a SINGLE thing to say that's wrong about it. That blew me away. They are so picky :P
Awesome. That's exactly what I was going for with the pitch :) When I finish my new treatment, that's what I will use in my query. I'll let you know everything else if and when it gets published. What about Sinner? What's it about?
Yep, mister Sanderson. He's awesome. I'll let him know. I'm such a fanboy. I have first editions of his trilogy signed :) Just to give you an idea, my adult oriented fantasy is in likeness to his style of writing, but unique in many ways. Hopefully he'll be willing to take a look when my first treatment is done, just to make sure I mastered the feel of it.
Since you're seeing the ACC premier, I better see a review for it ;)
LOL! Doofus? Ah man. OF COURSE The Last Airbender is on my list, but not in the next 3 months, man. LOL.
Yes. MS = Manu
That's awesome. I love how You've got your hand in the serious business, unlike so many wantonnabes on this site. I mingle with the book business, mostly. You know the Wheel of Time? The guy who's finishing it lives in the town I work. We mingle at least twice a year. It's awesome.
As for my novel, here's the pitch.
Since the beginning of time, it has been the dream of every princess to find her prince charming--every princess except Celesia, that is...
She has always hated princes, but she doesn't know why. If she is to discover the mystery behind her unexplainable condition, she must lift a dragon's curse.
I wrote it as a personal challenge for my wife, since she loves fairytale stuff. Everything I've done before that is Sci-fi and just plain terrible, but she's made a fantasy writer out of me. Now I'm on my second young adult fairytale novel, and my first adult epic fantasy is on hold until I create a few languages for it, but it's already 50k words in. What do you think?
