In my opinion, MLB should be held accountable for their handling of the "steroid era." Where was the leadership? Where was the commissioner and owners, or the player's association, stepping up to address the issue when it began to surface in the 90's? MLB failed to make a decision, failed to decide to ensure their business would remain legit and that fair competition/integrit y of play would rule... What happened? MLB and owners didn't care for the employee, they cared more about the business of making money vise ensuring their players were taken care of... Lack of effective leadership and timely decisions on stopping the problem is why we have such a "disease" now. MLB and owners "love" that money, and dang don't they make enough anyway?? Why, if you make an investment of millions of dollars, you can't demand and ensure that investment(player) is held accountable, and if he does something illegal, get him help or get rid of him, because the business is more important than the player and MLB and the owners "made the choice" that cash flow was more important than the integrity of the game...I think if Clemens would have told the truth from the begining,and maybe used an exscuse like,"I wasnt ready to stop playing.I still had the desire to compete but my body was failing me.Forgive me."Alot of people may have.And obviosly he was a hall of famer before he started using,I know like Bonds as well,if he did that he still might of made the hall.But now he wont.I cant believe he continues to take us for idiots.I guess he has no choice now.....Clemens arrogance will be his downfall.
