Serious HK film addict here...
And it's not that HK movies are too art-house...it's just that's all that makes it across the ocean into North American theatres. I just caught Running On Karma at a HK film fest here and adored it...parts of it were unbearably cheesy...but the whole thing was unpredictable and made us really *think*....I love that in a movie... I will watch anything....*anything* ... with Chow Yun-Fat (but A Better Tomorrow, Hong Kong 1941 and An Autumn's Tale are at the top of my list) and almost anything with Jet Li. Old favourites include Chinese Ghost Story, Bride With White Hair, Ashes of Time |
