so any new movies you've watched lately?
have you seen paranormal activities
As for Trick r' Treat, I think people are judging it WAY too harshly based off of the hype, and not enough on the actual film. It's emulating cinema of yore that predates a lot of the younger crowd that's seeing it akin to comics/movies like the Creepshow anthologies. The film is supposed to work more as parts, not as a hugely significant whole--though it all connects quite well. As it is, it's not a stupendous film, but it is immense fun because of its blending of dark humor and horror imagery--it's not scary at all, but it doesn't need to be. That, and the direction has some beautiful points to it as well as cinematography (like the bus silently careening off the cliff while awash in yellows and golds of fall. There are some continuity errors here and there that I noticed, but all I wanted was something fun, and on that, it worked perfectly. It's not meant to scare or horrify, it's meant to pay homage to the enjoyment of Halloween and the horrific traditions of it. The movie is simply trying to be a nostalgic piece of entertainment. People are going in expecting some disturbing, super-scary flick, not understanding that it's supposed to be a fun, more light-hearted affair, even poking fun at its grisly content.
