I couldn't possibly see Dinah & Oliver as being anymore contrived than Chlollie was. The awesome thing about Dinah is that we KNOW the part she plays in Oliver's history. Part of what drives the plot in SV is the strong ensemble cast the show has, but EVERYONE has to have an organic role to play. It's really clear at this point that the show is struggling desperately to find a place for Chloe who otherwise really doesn't have a role to play on the show. In reality, the role Chloe is playing is actually the role traditionally held by Dinah/BC--den mother to the League and lover to Oliver/GA. Chloe is a usurper and has been for a long time now. Chlois supporters wanted Lois' life for Chloe, and when they couldn't have that, it pleased them to crusade for Chlollie. The fact is Chloe is all washed up, and there's a large sentiment AGAINST her now, and that's especially true after season 8. Things never got any better for that character in season 9. Hopefully, this show won't re-sign Allison to another full season, because her very presence has served to leave that part of the storyline stale and flat. The character lacks dimension and importance in the broader scheme of things. Chloe is ALL washed up, and her departure is so long overdue. Siren from season 7 was Dinah at her best, and that's what the show could use--NEW LIFE. Dinah is sexy, playful, skilled and heroic. The relationship beytween she and Oliver would be great. The fact that Chlollie exists creates a speed bump on the way to establishing Dinah & Oliver, because the show then has to create some plausible segue form one ship to another. Dinah can be brought to the show before Chloe ever leaves. At least she would be in place to take her own rightful place in the mythology. Dinah/BC provides a bit of versatility that Chloe seriously lacks at this stage.
Chloe fans are grasping at straws now, and that's unfortunate both for them and the show's prodcuers. Everyone wants to see the show move forward save for a relatively small contingent of fans. Yes, SV is an AU, but it also draws VERY heavily from existing canon from across the DC strata. The show will and IS increasingly starting to resemble clearly recognizable traditional storylines now. That's what the fanbase really wants. Chloe serves no real function that advances the narrative at this stage, and it's pretty obvious that the producers and their writers are struggling to re-imagine ways to use a worn out and over exposed character. Chloe had her day, but it's time for Chloe and Allison to push on now. Chlollie ISN'T the crowd pleasing, highly in demand, over the top love affair of the ages that Chlollie fans keep ranting about. Chlollie is popular amongst a minorioty of fans--CHLOE FANS. They don't represent the broader fandom. Alaina Huffman is BEAUTIFUL and very talented. She's available to do the show as a recurring role, and she has the chemistry with Justin to pull this off. Moreover, BC and GA are a popular and long standing canonical relationship WELL KNOWN to fans. Seeing the genesis of that canonical relationship and it's rich history would bring a measure of excitement and would probably re-energize a portion of the show's viewership. One of the cool things about SV are the AU-ish, prequel characteristics that define this story. This is all a back story. It would be great to BC & GA right along with CLOIS in season 10. That's what we've been waiting for all along. We're watching and waiting for the emergence of those characters that we LOVE. We're actually starting to get there now. Season 9 is the best to date, and we're moving closer to the heart of the story. Chloe fans just refuse to let go.
