While this preceded it, it's a shame that The Tournament already beat it to the cinematic punch with the EXACT same story, albeit bloody entertaining campy action. And while we're at it, I don't believe anyone should be comparing anything to Hunger Games as Hunger Games is a complete rip-off in and of itself.

Finally. It only took them an eternity to do something different than the posters they've had out for months now...

Wow... Amazing how different this remake already feels than that of the original... Like an arthouse version of it in France rather than a straight exploitation version of it in the states... Looks to be even more f*cked up--especially with Aja on board, it'll probably be gruesome as sh*t... Again though, the arhouse direction is a strange detour from the grainy original... Kinda brings to mind what the guard in Joe Dirt tells, ol' Joe, "Don't try and church it up!"

Bryan Yentz reviewed the movie The Grey

"... This is far less an action film and far more a dramatic meditation on life and death..."
I'd give this one, probably about a 2.5 or maybe 3 if I'm feeling generous. I mean, since I know you dig onthese flicks, I just expected your review to be... Kinder, I guess. My qualms are actually the same as I found it to be surprisingly long and just as I thought the film was wrapping up one conflicted plot point, it then turned the story around and brought up another problem... Thus, they get together, fall apart, together, apart, together, apart... And yeah, I found it went from being decently humorous to pretty sad at points... Mainly because I don't enjoy watching flicks wherein the woman is cheating on the guy... But yeah, I didn't think it was bad, but I wouldn't bother with it again.
I agree though. it is VERY long for the style of film that is and bounces around tonally; but I still believe it to be infinitely better than Sparks' latest cash-in, The Lucky One.
I'm honestly surprised that you didn't like this film...

Wow. I wish I was a talentless hack that sucked the nuts of Hollywood execs day in and out. I mean, seriously, these two guys must be REALLY good at sucking c*ck because their last efforts have been complete disasters. Maybe if I were as pathetic I might be able to get studios to give me millions of dollars to produce total and utter sh*t.
