Of course actors should interpret the role. But it's the directors job to pull them back and keep them on the right path. You can't just let people run wild. Pacino wouldn't be the legend you think he is if that was the case.
Everything has to fit, otherwise you're gonna end up with one messed up movie.

Have you ever had a job? You do as your boss tells you, not what you feel like doing. He was hired to voice a character. What are they gonna do, change the entire animation to fit around him. That's the dummest thing i ever heard.
