What does "certified" mean? The APA doesn't "certify" examiners. Moreover, a 21-question test would take over one week to conduct correctly. The NAS found the median accuracy of of single-issue tests (the most accurate) to be 86% - not 98%. Given a test that is 90% accurate (more reasonable), then the examiner would be expected to make at least two errors (wrong calls), which means the contestants can't win if they tell the truth to everything (statistically speaking).

Polygraph works, yes, but this is a scam in which a polygraph is (mis)used.
