Now then..there was a tag line that said TO AVOID FAINTING, KEEP REPEATING IT'S ONLY A MOVIE...Well thats what I had to keep telling myself while watching Rock's recommendation of..
MARTYR'S..The first half of the movie is vile, the second half is horrific..but at the same time truely compelling..I believe its french ..I did not even notice reading the subtitles..possibly the most disturbing film Ive watched for years..it does make HOSTEL look tame..It would be interesting to see what the unrated version offers..could do with swapping notes on facebook Rock..because the version I have just wathced was brutal.. Defo not for the squeamish..BE WARNED.. 9/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/martyrs.jpg |

$15,000, it makes you wonder how they spent that much?..Firstly I loved BLAIR WITCH, that creeped me out..PARANORMAL ACTIVITY kept we waiting, and waiting and in the end I felt short changed..Yes it does have its moments, and there are a couple of neat creepy bits, but on the whole it didnt quite live up to the hype..Im not to sure waiting for the DVD is a good idea Rock..I can see your point for getting the feel for it at home.. but you cant beat the surround sound at the Cinema to get the true feeling, if you get what I mean.
I can only assume from the trailer that the audience we see jumping out of their skin is taken from a different movie cause, I think I jumped once..the only other annoying thing about the trailer, and a word of warning..it shows you the end of the movie..I knew this cause two particular bits had not been shown and I was waiting for them.. 5.5/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/alg_movie_paranormal_activity.jpg |

Interesting about the mix up with Directors..I stand corrected..CHILDREN OF THE CORN was just so staged, and di nothing for me Rock..wether the extended version, or whatever it is is any better that remains to be seen..
I got proper excited all week noing that CH4 were screening FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 IN 3-D as part of their 3-D week on UK TV..I have waited 26 yrs to see this again after originally seeing at the flicks in 83..We dont even have the R1 copy over here, well that maybe not true as I dont own a region 1 player..However it isnt on R2.. Our local supermarket have been giving away free glasses, so it was time to see what scared me so much as a teenager..Armed with a bag of popcorn and a couple of friends..we sat down to see this classic as it was ment to be seen.. Granted I have watched the 2-d version many times, infact not that long ago..Firstly some of the effects were really good, some quite poor..but this movie holds a lot of fond memories for me in many ways..and although the two friends were not that impressed, it still is extremely tense at the final twenty..This,has Rock pointed out was where Jason first gets hold of his famous hockey mask..its quite tame on the T and A which other Friday's played heavily on..There are some quite gruesome deaths, but there are also many many cheesy bits, and some of the acting is appauling..But for a stalk n slash, and the un masking of the non stop killing machine its still a great movie in the never ending franchise.. 8/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/friday_the_13th_part_3_3-d_-_deluxe.jpg |

I dont fancy GREEN ST 2 Rock, simply because it takes the theme into a prison and not on the soccer terraces..and I think its just used the title from the first movie to grab the audience..this was straight to DVD by the way over here.. I will be more careful over this Director buisness, it is so easy to get confused as I have seen..
Those Pink Panther films take me back to saturday tea times at my Nan's..they were really big on UK tv back in the 70s.. More violence and gangs, and Im pretty sure ive been on here with this one before, I must have done cause Ive lost count on how many times Ive watched...QUADRAPHENIA..But this was my first 18 film I managed to blag my way in at 14 yrs of age..Mods and Rockers were rival gangs who would meet up on a Bank Holiday Monday down at Brighton or other seaside resorts to knock seven bells out of each other..some things never change..and this is set in 1965.. The film focuse's around a young teenager Jimmy and his pill popping, his mod mates, and his love for a local slag played brilliantly by Leslie Ash. We see what being a Mod is all about and their obsession with riding flash scooters, listening and dancing to 60s groups like The Who and Phil Spector sounds etc..The drugs seem to play a big part..basicaly pills to keep them going..and then of course their hatred for the bikers .. This will always remain a classic to me, and I was so fortunate to have met Phil Daniels and it was great chatting about the movie, and The Who who's soundtrack belts out throughout this wonderful movie..I just hope you folks across the water can get your hands on this movie, cause im sure you will appreciate it as an insight as what Britain was like in the middle 60s..We had a Mod revival back in 79, possibly one of the highlights of my life.. 10/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/quadrophenia-ride.jpg |

Yet another footie Hooligan film?..well yes sort off to some extent..but this one is quite interesting in the fact it shows how some folks can get drawn into the scene, purely to fit in and become one of the lads.. It also shows that although the majority of ''HOOLIES'' are nasty and very untrustworthy, there are an element who do have a conscience, and would help each other out in times of trouble..What I did find interesting regarding the clothes and hairstyles that were shown in the movie..this was 1979 in Liverpool which is about 70 mins from where I live..these styles never really hit off around our area till about 82..
Some nice all round performances from alot of unknowns, and a great soundtrack to boot.. 8/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/awaydays_cover.jpg |

They are calling it the UK's DEATH WISH or its been compared with the excellent GRAN TORINO..Move over Charlie Bronson and you Clint, cause Sir Michael Caine is a old age pensioner on a mission..the mission is to get even with a gang of chav sc*m for the brutal slaying of his only mate,on the yob infested council estate where he lives in London.
My message is, dont compare this with those two movies cause its just not quite up there with those ..but what I can say it is a damn good revenge movie, and your rooting for Caine all the way.. The sad thing about this movie, is every day almost, we pick up our daily newspaper to find some poor bloke has been murdered by a gang of youths/girls just sometimes for telling them to mind their language..are courts over here are so soft when they are found guilty, there penalties are a joke.. I personally wish every town and city had a Harry Brown, perhaps then society would dish out some proper justice.. 8/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/harrybrownpostsm.jpg |

Yes Rock I have both DEATH PROOF and PLANET TERROR on my shelf at home, and have watched both a few times and now, and love them both. I have yet to see HELL RIDE, but a mate of mine has it son I will take a view shortly.
CP im going to see PARANORMAL ACTIVITY in a couple of weeks time, I just hope it lives up to my expectations, because things that go bump in the night are the onlyfilms that genuinely scare me..that is untill, what promised to be really creepy and spooky never quite lived up to the trailer..THE ORPHANAGE is a another movie from De Toro, when you watch his amazing movie PAN'S LABYRINTH and see the clips to this, you get the feeling your in for a real treat.. It starts promising, but never to me delivers what I was expecting..However it is an interesting story and well done..but for me it was no comparison to say ..THE OTHERS or the original THE HAUNTING.. 6/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/the-orphanage-poster.jpg |

DEATH PROOF Rock was really slated over here, but like you I was a big fan..I agree there could have been a few more deaths, and sometimes, although at times interesting, the dialogue went on for far too long..plenty of eye candy, but like you say some T and A would have not gone a miss, cause some of those chicks were hot.
I watched FALLING IN LOVE, Yes ok its a soppy womans film, but at time I am parcial to a lovie dovie movie, and with De Niro and Streep you know its going to be good. What I love about this film is how two people who at the time to be happily married meet in a book store, then on the train as they comute to their work place..form a relasionship and fall in love. The sad thing about this is their partners are unaware at first, then they are the ones who suffer. I hear so many stories about folks breaking up, but if you watch this movie, you can see how easy this could happen..seen it about four times over the years, it is an oldie but I recommend it..its a lovely movie and set around Christmas time which is ideal.. 8.5/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/fallinginlove.jpg |

There were quite a number of critics who were not too impressed with QUANTUM OF SOLACE on its theatrical release, I was certainly not one of those, and on a second viewing possibly enjoyed it even more..Fair enough there were no gadgets, which quite a few Bond fans are disappointed with, and we have to wait till the final credits for the famous walking down the barrell of a gun scene and the famous bond theme to kick in. But that aside it is still a cracking action thriller that once again proves that Daniel Craig is excellent in the role of Ian Flemmings James Bond.
The story follows on from the equally entertaining CASINO ROYALE and here we learn more about Vespa's death. There are several great chases, including a roof top, car and boat..but for tension the aeroplane chase in the desert is awesome, if a little far fetched in its finale. All in all I rate QUANTUM 9/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/quantum.jpg |

I just so wanted to come on here and give SAW 6 a great review..sadly I cannot..and I have been a huge fan since the first. I even thought SAW 5 was good, and most thought it was sh*t.
What I can say, is the beginning almost caused me to pass out, and im not kidding, it grossed me out completely..after that, the movie just seemed so staged and weak..it became all too routine, and the usual shock twist ending... was pathetic..infact it wasnt really a twist, just a poor excuse to throw us off the sent .. see what you reckon..It will be interesting to see what you think Rock, cause your like me when it comes to the Saw franchise..this one is a stinker.. 5/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/saw6-5.jpg |

First Rock..some films you have watched there..THE DEAD ZONE was one I managed to watch at the flicks on its release back in 83..the lad who I knocked about with at the time always insisted we had a spliff before hand to inhance the viewing pleasure..and I must admit seeing that stoned was awesome..those short story movies are great..ive always been a big fan, way back to those old cheesy one by Amicus..THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD, DR TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, ASYLUM etc...not seen the darkside one..will look out for it.. like you say mate its the Horror season and im going to try ..starting with this one from the other night..
THE DEVILS REJECTS..Im sure this is a fav of yours..I have watched this about four or five times..and still love it..it got slaughtered on its UK release, but I think this is a little gem, and totally different from HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, which I adore.. I do however think it looses its shock appeal the more you watch it, thats only my opinion he was telling me how he loved those walkaround haunted houses at theme parks..a really nice guy.. Anyway Rob Zombie follows the killing spree of the firefly family as they take to the highway and hideout in a motel in the middle of nowhere.. Otis is particuarly sadistic, and his cruel teasing of a woman infront of her husband is classic.. Sherry Moon Zombie as Baby is also a bit of a twat aswell as she joins in on the tease.. In the uncut version that I now own, the mowing down of a fleeing victim by truck is shown a little more in detail following the aftermath.. and the ending is Bonnie and Clyde style.. Shame there is no plans for a third..I did ask them..lol 9/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/ades%20album/thedevilsrejects.jpg |

While Rock watches his Horror Movies , im watching THE SOUND OF MUSIC..No I havent gone of horror films, this was shown in one of the homes I was working at the other day..I own this, and have only watched it once before, but I think its a damn good movie..loads of food for thought and sentiment ..
Of course everyone knows the plot, Julie Andrews in sent form the local Austrian Convent to take on the Vontrap family as their nanny..Christopher Plummer is superb as the strict Father, and demands that Andrews follows his strict guide lines. He is due to wed, but soon starts to fall in love with Andrews, as do his motherless kids and while this is going on, the Nazi's are taking charge of Austria..and of course there are the catchy tunes all the way through, some repeated but not worn out.. Pure family entertainment on a grand scale.. 9/10 http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj260/adethestokie/soundofmusic.jpg |
