Jeffrey Tambor Is The Captain

Jeffrey Tambor has joined CBS' comedy pilot The Captain. The show centers on a young writer (Fran Kranz) who moves into a legendary Hollywood apartment building; The Hollywood Reporter says Tambor will play a retired TV writer who lives in the building.

Michelle Trachtenberg is set as the female lead in ABC's untitled D.C. comedy soap pilot; from WBTV, it's about an aide (Eric Christian Olsen) to a Democratic senator who falls for the daughter (Trachtenberg) of his boss' archnemesis.

Kal Penn has been tapped to star in ABC's comedy pilot The Call, which revolves around a team of L.A. paramedics; Penn will play one of them, a hypochondriac and pessimist. Also cast in the pilot is Kali Rocha as the paramedics' boss.

Nick D'Agosto and Erick Avari will co-star in CBS' comedy pilot The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud. The show centers on a brilliant writer who tries to recapture her youthful optimism; D'Agosto will play one of her students, on whom she has a crush, while Avari will play her therapist.

Stephen Moyer has landed the lead in Fox's drama pilot NSA Innocent, which centers on a family man (Moyer) recruited by the NSA.

Alex O'Laughlin and Shannon Lucio are set to star in CBS' drama pilot Twilight; it centers on a private investigator (O'Laughlin) who also is a vampire. Lucio will play an ambitious TV reporter who becomes close with him.

Bill Burr has landed a lead in Fox's comedy pilot Playing Chicken, which revolves around two brothers (Norbert Leo Butz, Burr) with opposite political views who are forced to live together.

Hector Elizondo has joined CBS' untitled Cynthia Cidre drama pilot. The show revolves around the lives of three generations of a powerful Latin American family; Elizondo will play the family's patriarch.

Mia Maestro has come aboard CBS' drama pilot The Man; it centers on an undercover cop (LL Cool J) who juggles his job and his adopted children. Maestro will play a doctor who is close with him.

Adam Goldberg is set to co-star in ABC's legal drama pilot Marlowe, centering on P.I. Philip Marlowe; Goldberg will play an LAPD detective who helps him.

According to Variety, Rockmond Dunbar will star in TNT medical drama, Heartland as a transplant surgeon; Treat Williams stars in the series set to premiere this fall.
