Hints Revealed About Smallville Season Eight

Smallville's season eight is already being worked on by the writers, thanks to an early pickup announcement by The CW Network. Brian Peterson, the show's executive producer, told SCI FI Wire a little bit about what fans can expect in the rest of season seven and in next year's season eight.

"We're always hopeful, and we always plan every year for a season finale, but it's really great when we get to tell one more year of Clark's story," Peterson said. "It's very early, and we really have to work in partnership with the studio, because right now we haven't presented anything to them," he added.

So what can fans expect from season eight? "The things I think I can hint at are the Lois & Clark of it all," he said. "It's really going to be a season about Lois [Erica Durance] and Clark [Tom Welling]."

The remainder of season seven, however, will focus on Lex's dark side, beginning with the April 17 episode Descent. "The rest of this season is, for the most part, about Lex finding what he's always been looking for," Peterson said. "Veritas [the last original episode to air] launched the next five episodes, which are all about Lex finding what he's been searching for."

The finale will set up the show's next season. "There's so much still to play," Peterson said. "People keep asking us all the time, 'When are you bringing in this character?' 'When are you doing this?' 'When are you doing that?' And we're like, 'We'll get there.' There're a lot of characters to service. So next year we have some real fun and clear ideas about what we're doing."

Smallville airs Thursday nights on the CW. The drama about the early days of Clark Kent stars Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Kristen Kreuk, John Glover, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Aaron Ashmore and Laura Vandervoot.

Season 8 will be the last and I hope they make sure it goes out with a bang. I'm still surprised that the writers are thinking about Doomsday has the main villain for season 8. If thats the case, Clark better learn to fly and no more Lana should help move Clark towards becoming Superman. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of the Justice League to help deal with the loss of Glover,Rosenbaum,Kreuk, and Vandervoot

I think that the show should end with season 8 and to make Clark fly because the flying is superman's best power and he has the others. So this should focus on Lois, Clark, and becoming superman.

I think the producers need to decide when to end this show and get a commitment from CW. If they have 2 more seasons of stories to tell then fine but I think they need to start wrapping it up. I have plenty of friends who believe this show has "jumped the shark" and I can't defend the show anymore.
I would like to know how many times in the life of the show has Lana accused Clark of loving her and Clark stammered, looked deep into her eyes and turn away?

I love the show, and I am so happy for the next season. And I'm praying to have the opportunity to see Tom Welling at least looking the Superman suit.

I like the show too, but it should start going somewhere. Clark needs to fly, Lex needs to be the evil mastermind he really is, Chloe needs to leave Clark's life (even though she is one of my favorite characters and holds a lot of the show together), so does Lana, Clark needs to stop being such a wimp and show more of his heroe side. What happened to Clark using his powers? He maybe uses one power an episode if we're lucky, and it's usually a combo of speed and strength. Wheres heat vision, the breath ability, x-ray vision. Also he needs to think about being a superhero, his disguise and stuff can come maybe the end of the 8th season, come on, the seasons are like long filler episodes. Thats it I guess hehe.

I love the show and I don't think that it should end at season 7 I think it should go on maybe put a twist in the show put Clark and Lana together instead of Clark with Lois everyone knows that Lana is Clarks Soulmate he loves her and she loves him what more do you need. Big Smallville Fan!!!!!!
