Smallville creators/executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar are leaving the veteran drama after seven seasons, as was previously reported.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has announced that co-executive producers Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson have been upped to executive producers and will serve as showrunners on the show's upcoming eighth season.

"Al Gough and Miles Millar have been great partners and instrumental in the development and success of 'Smallville,'" CW and "Smallville" producer Warner Bros. TV said in a joint statement. Todd, Darren, Kelly, and Brian have been writing for the show for the past six seasons, and as producers for the last four years, they have played an integral role in the ongoing creative evolution of the series. As showrunners, they will continue to deliver the compelling storytelling that "Smallville" fans have come to expect and love."

Now in its seventh season, Smallville, which originally launched on the WB, continues to be CW's top scripted series. It was recently picked up for fall.

well radimus-83, if they did crappy people like aquaman and black canary as cameos, then they should include actual superheroes that are cool like batman. But the thing is it will be hard to pull that off so they might not do it. either way the show will hopefully remain good.

cant wait til DECENT 4/17/08

The show is generally good, but i have no idea where they are gonna take it. Lex not appearing in season 8? Thats kinda strange. Lana though i understand. Hopefully though they end the series really good and remember able and include a batman episode like they did with cyborg, green arrow, the flash, and aquaman.

It was so sad to watch lana sit there and not even recognize clark I'm not sure if she died or is in a coma I think that chloe will use her ablitie to save lana if she loves clark like we know she does she will help him get her back to her normal self and I still don't believe Branic didn't live up to his end of the bargin he can't just leave lana like that it will destory clark I hope something good comes of the next episode Smallville Descent I guess we will have to find out can't wait to see it big Smallville fan

Well at least they've promoted guys who've worked on the show before. We'll just have to wait to see where they'll take the story.
