The Screen Actors Guild Awards is the only awards show created by and for actors. A randomly selected group of SAG members votes on each year's standout individual and ensemble performances with the final ballot being voted on by all 100,000 guild members, then convenes for one of TV's most genuine ceremonies. Actors from both television and film are honored, but no awards are handed out to the actual movies or shows. The Screen Actor's Guild award is considered to be an indicator of success at the Academy Awards. The bronze statuette which is known as the "Actor" depicts a naked man holding the masks of comedy and tragedy, it was originally sculpted by Edward Saenz and was designed by Jim Heimann and Jim Barrett.
