Sword of Omens, come to my hand
From the planet of Thundera comes a team of reluctant, homeless heroes, The Thundercats, a group of human and cat-like aliens with special skills and talents. Pursued by the evil Mutants of Plun-Darr, they will stop at nothing to obtain the source of the Thundercat's power, The Eye of Thundra, found in the hilt of the legendary Sword of Omens. With an accident, the mind of young Lion-O remains as his body ages. Can a man-child lead a team of survivors on a strange alien world? Find out!
Airing from 1985 to 1990, Thundercats amazed kids and adults alike, using the imperfect child-like hero of Lion-O to lead a group of fellow survivors on a mysterious world called 3rd Earth. Incorporating the dark and edgy arch villain Mumm-Ra with a host of other stranded baddies, there is never a dull moment and danger is always high, making for new discovers in each episode and a host of resource material to be explored. Complete with many characters, ranging from the awesome to the downright hilarious, adds to the formula of a wonderfully produced show that will reboot in 2011. What I like about this show best is that it has an ending, a real story-arc ending. Such a rare thing indeed, as shows tend to get canceled left and right.
The group behind Thundercats helped to form the Studio Ghibli team.
Today you can rent or buy the series, or you can wait for the new series which is to Air in 2011 on Cartoon Network. Question is, can they make it just as good as the original? Only time will tell. Until then. Thundercats - Ho!
